Little Treasure

A Facebook friend just shared this song. I never heard of the song or band before but I really like it. Check it out:

And check this out! Suzi Quatro covers it too!

Must learn more about Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel.

feed you with raisins & ply you with wine

The rain is hitting the window and the lightening is illuminating my room. I am listening to Carla Bruni and sipping Charles Shaw’s White Zinfandel. Should I stay here and drink more cheap wine or head over to the grocery store and stock up on food? It’s true, I’ve done nothing but eat crackers the last few days since my cupboards are bare. Maybe the grocery store is a good idea.

Lisa said to me the other day, “There’s a girl at work who’s a gimp. There’s something massively wrong with her leg and hip. She kinda hops around, dragging her bad leg behind her. She’s married. Someone wanted her. Why do you suppose no one wants you?”

I had no answer for her.

LIFE! It exists!

I am trying to line up my summer.

My desired summer consists of:

  • The Blasters
  • Los Straitjackets
  • The Red Elvises
  • Blobfest
  • Ghoul a Go-Go (Creighton and I have a special relationship)
  • The Rivers Rockabilly Trio
  • Bensalem Amphitheater Tribute Bands
  • Elvis Stylist performance
  • Old Classic movies preferably projected outside on a bedsheet hanging between two trees

What else? I am trying to remember! It’s been so long.

I wish there was a Website that listed all the classic movies and old time rock and roll that is playing in my neck of the woods.

Deck the Halls with Buddy Holly

Wow! If it weren’t for my dad dying, I’d say I am living a most awesome life. Last night I went to see my favorite local Rockabilly band play. During intermission, the lead guitarist came down off the stage and came over to greet me. Once we finished talking, the guy who performs with them as Buddy Holly, replete with horn-rim glasses, came over to say hi. Lisa casually mentioned we were headed to the Parx Casino after the concert. When we got to the place, I said to the bartender, “If Buddy Holly shows up, bring him over to me.”

“Yeah, right… I’ll be sure to point him your way.”

I had the last laugh when Buddy Holly did show up!

So, I am sitting at the Parx Casino with a touchy feely Buddy Holly impersonator and we’re talking about Elvis, Marshal Crenshaw, Gary Busey, Ed Sullivan, The Rip Chords, etc… and I am just a couple of degrees away from melting into a giant puddle! Unfortunately the fun ended abruptly when he held my hand and I felt a wedding ring. All my hopes and dreams for that moment crash-landed. Regardless, my heart turned flip flops for the first time in ages and that’s a good thing… even if Buddy has a Peggy Sue.

Sitting there with “Buddy,” made me think of a totally insane conversation I had a few months ago when I went to Rockin’ Ron Cade’s 30th Anniversary Elvis and Friends Tribute Show (Of which Rockin’ Ron sent me TWO COMPLIMENTARY TICKETS! I tell you I am suddenly leading a charmed life). As the Elvis Stylist performed a knee drop followed by a lunge, the woman next to me said, “I wonder how he looks when he’s not dressed like Elvis?”

“In my experience, they NEVER look as good when the jumpsuit comes off. Totally ruins the moment.”

“Oh?”

“I have 50 scarves.”

You should have seen the woman’s face! She totally believed me! Hysterical!

XM Discount | The Magic Coupon Code

My SiriusXM subscription came up for renewal at the price of 142.45 + 15.38 (royalty fee). I called their cancellation department and told them that the price was too high and I needed to cancel my subscription. The agent asked if I was happy with the service and I said, “Absolutely, I love XM!”

Guess what? He told me he had special pricing he could provide me… HALF OFF! 77.00 + 8.31 = 85.31!!!

I jumped at the offer! There is no way I can ever go back to terrestrial radio!

85.31 for 1 year of no silly contests, few commercials, Little Steven’s Underground Garage and Elvis 24/7!

HOORAY!!!!

Speaking of Vibrators, Baby Baby

Here’s one of my favorites:

I agree it’s not the best video… I can’t find anything better.

But I did find Die Toten Hosen doing a cover:

This will always be my favorite Roten Rosen/Toten Hosen song:

I can’t find an English translation (I’d Do Anything For Gaby). Maybe if I get bored I’ll do it… one day.

Lightening a Heavy Heart

Yesterday morning we went to the Kimmel Center to see my sister collect her Master’s degree. I spent the one hour ceremony crying and choking back even more tears. Even though she graduated last August and my father knew she had her degree, he wanted to see her walk. He would have been so proud of his little girl. And I know he would have told her Mrs Semmel was wrong… and he always knew it. We all did.

After the graduation, Lisa and I went to visit Erin and Pete. After a lovely BBQ, we drove to Asbury Park and stood outside the Stone Pony and watched Social Distortion play on their outside stage. We had a better view from the street than I did at tons of other concerts where I actually bought tickets. They played all their favorites and a couple new songs. They waited to the very last song of the encore to play Ring of Fire… my favorite, of course Ball and Chain’s been resonating with me more now than ever before.

I am now in my bedroom trying trying trying to motivate myself to clean up all the clothes off the floor. I’ve said it a million times but I love the way it feels to have a clean house/room/office yet I hate the process of getting it clean and keeping it clean.

I did clean out the one closet. It was a purging experience. Now I just need to take that energy and direct it at my clothes.

Enough of this! I need to clean!

I really wish Mike Ness wasn’t so addicted to guyliner… guyliner embarrasses me, always did and always will.
