Laundry

I MUST fold the laundry I have in the dryer and place the clothes in the washer into the dryer.

I MUST hang up the clothes scattered on the sofa in my bedroom

I MUST print out materials for tomorrow’s meeting

I MUST finish that proposal I should have sent out on Monday

I MUST mail out those 2 DVDs that I’ve been sitting on for at least a week and a half

I MUST do the dishes

I MUST practice playing my guitar

I MUST schedule a doctor’s appt and a hair dresser’s appt

I MUST get my Driver’s License photo taken

I MUST do my expense reports FROM AUGUST!

I MUST stop putting things off

It has happened

I have finally and begrudgingly come to the realization that in order to do what I must do during the day, I have to do my paperwork at night and on weekends. I really tried not to let the job get out of hand but it seems to me that I have no choice. In order to get my calls and appointments in, I have no choice but putting off my paperwork until after hours. Dammit.

There’s still not enough time in the day. What am I doing wrong?

Good Grief!

Sometimes I luck out! Last week I cleaned out the pile of mail I had collected over the last week or so. Most of it was credit card offers which I shredded. One of the pieces of mail was my registration information for my car. I separated the contents from the envelope and tossed the envelope into the trash. This evening I remembered that I still hadn’t put the new card into my car or put the sticker on my license plate. I found the card but no sticker. It was then that I realized that the sticker was still in the envelope that I had thrown away! Luckily I never emptied my trash! I was able to go through the my office garbage can and find the registration sticker still in the envelope! Sometimes my laziness is a good thing!

My weekend

I had such a nice weekend! On Saturday, Rob took me to his friend’s block party in Northeast Philly. This was my first time meeting his friends. They seemed like very nice people. On Sunday we picked apples from the orchard beside his house. The rest of the day was spent writing proposals as Rob watched the Eagles. I really don’t get football and baseball and all those other sports. I tried to watch some of the game with Rob but it looked like the exact same thing my father watches and has watched since I was a little girl. Nothing, other than the color of the jerseys, seems to change. I even said this to Rob:
“Rob, that guy who just caught the ball is going to get tackled, See?”
“I know, isn’t it great?”
“But it doesn’t change! Someone throws the ball, someone catches it and then they get tackled.”
“Yeah!”
I tried. I have a feeling that the next 3 months are going to be spent watching some guy get tackled, over and over and over again.

In the evening we went to see The Rivers perform at a town not too far from where Rob lives. They were incredible as always! We watched the first set but left when they took their break because it was an outdoor concert and it got cold and bugs started to eat us alive.

Typical

Today was my first day of commuting to the new Philadelphia office. I got there at 8:30 sharp! The commute from door to door was just about an hour. Not bad at all! Much better than the 2 hour commute to Manhattan. The nicest part is that I emerge from the train station directly in front of my building! This will be perfect during the winter. At any rate, I unlocked the office door and to my surprise I found a man painting the hallway. Not only was the only person in the office a painter, but the offices were devoid of furniture, equipment, and an Internet connection. I called my boss and he said he was about an hour away and I should call the IT guy who was bringing the phones and equipment. The IT guy told me he was in Connecticut and wouldn’t get into Philly until well after lunch. Instead of sitting on the floor and trying to connect to an unsecure network, I decided to cut my losses and go home.

Let’s hope the office is in better shape tomorrow!

Lovely

I had a great evening. Erin, Pete and Kathy came over. We ate chips, drank wine and had a load of fun. Erin and I played the organ together. I thought we were really jamming until Lisa pulled the plug out from the socket and told us, “Step away from the instrument!”

Even though I went to sleep late, I awoke early. I made Cinnamon Streusel and I am waiting for it to bake completely. I also made some coffee.

Days go by

My appointments yesterday took longer than I expected. Rather than go straight home, I went to the farm. I made it there by 6:00. A much easier commute than had I drive all the way home. Rob and I went out to dinner at a fancy place. I am not much of a fancy girl, that is the reason I ordered the brick oven pizza. I should have known better. Gourmet pizza is a crock. The pizza was dry. Very very dry. Rob asked the server for some tomato sauce. The waitress brought back stewed tomatoes that were surprisingly good. Once those babies were on the pizza it tasted great!

I left the farm at around 9:00 and got home around 10:00. I immediately fell into bed since I am am off to NYC today. That means up at 5, out of the house by 6:30, home by 7:00.

This evening Erin and Pete and Kathy are visiting. I am excited to see everyone again! It’s been weeks, possibly months since I last saw Erin! Should be a fun evening!

Lemon scented Pine-Sol

I was told I should come into the NYC office on Friday. I am desperately hoping that changes. Next week should see the opening of the Philly office. I have no doubt it will open. I do doubt that it will have furniture. As much as I am looking forward to the Philadelphia office opening, I am not looking forward to the commute. However, it will be nice to finally have work and home separated. It will be nice to get out of the house more often. It will be nice to intermingle with society. Who cares about the commute! I am breaking free! I can’t wait!

What’s my age again?

Here’s a link to the pictures my sister took of my birthday party. I decided to include all the pictures. The reasoning behind this is that had I discarded pictures because they were fuzzy and not in focus, there wouldn’t be any photos to view!

The night before my birthday, before we left for Baltimore, Rob presented me with his birthday gift to me. It was a gift bag filled with DVDs! Roger Corman’s Cult Classics: Dangerous Dames! Swamp Women, She Gods of Shark Reef and Wasp Women; Masters of Horror, Vincent Price: The Bat, House on the Haunted Hill and Last Man on Earth; Roger Corman’s Cult Classics: Jack Nicholson! The Little Shop of Horrors, The Terror, and Dementia 13; and finally Learn Guitar on DVD volume 1. I thanked Rob profusely.
“Don’t you think it’s odd that I gave you a DVD on Learning Guitar when you don’t actually own a guitar?”
“I didn’t consider that…”
At that moment, he went behind the sofa and pulled out a GUITAR!!!! He got me a GUITAR! Now I can live my dream of becoming Judy Collins! Wait, was it Judy Collins or Joan Collins? Too late now! 🙂

My mom and dad had a little birthday party for me on the 3rd. My mom made Chicken Enchiladas, Mexican Rice, Chips and Dip and Guacamole. It was a great meal! After the meal, Lisa brought out a MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP BASKIN ROBBINS ICE CREAM CAKE!!!! Normally we do Sweetheart Cakes from Morrisville but I’ve been eyeing this cake each time we go into the Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins for coffee. I look at the cake, sigh, and think of how yummy it would taste. Can I just tell you it lived up to my expectations?! It was so yummy good! I LOVE mint chocolate!

It was a great birthday! Made turning 32 a party!
