My weekend

I had such a nice weekend! On Saturday, Rob took me to his friend’s block party in Northeast Philly. This was my first time meeting his friends. They seemed like very nice people. On Sunday we picked apples from the orchard beside his house. The rest of the day was spent writing proposals as Rob watched the Eagles. I really don’t get football and baseball and all those other sports. I tried to watch some of the game with Rob but it looked like the exact same thing my father watches and has watched since I was a little girl. Nothing, other than the color of the jerseys, seems to change. I even said this to Rob:
“Rob, that guy who just caught the ball is going to get tackled, See?”
“I know, isn’t it great?”
“But it doesn’t change! Someone throws the ball, someone catches it and then they get tackled.”
“Yeah!”
I tried. I have a feeling that the next 3 months are going to be spent watching some guy get tackled, over and over and over again.

In the evening we went to see The Rivers perform at a town not too far from where Rob lives. They were incredible as always! We watched the first set but left when they took their break because it was an outdoor concert and it got cold and bugs started to eat us alive.

As one lady friend once remarked:

“They huddle, they run, they get knocked down.
They huddle, they run, they get knocked down.
They huddle, they run, they get knocked down.”

    “I don’t get it”.

Hey, at least they get knocked down differently on each play.
Ever tried watching NASCAR on television? Rednecks going
around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around and around….
