WOW! It’s a nice day out there. It’s really temperate. There’s a part of me that wants to be out there enjoying it. Wait, that’s all of me.
I can’t help but think back to college. As soon as the days warmed, I’d head out to the Green, throw down a blanket and lay in the sun. Good times. This year is my 15 year reunion. I can hardly believe 15 years have past since I wandered down the halls of Rosemont. I miss seeing the tulips in the spring… I wonder if they even still have the tulips. Their groundsmen, Irish Eddie, died a number of years ago and he was responsible for the gorgeous flowers. Which gets me thinking about Bob, the guy who checked our student cards before we could eat in Cardinal Hall. He also died a few years back. And Rick Strickler, the Computer Room admin… and Roy, the postman with the big pompadour.. and Emma who made the best sandwiches.
I miss the father-daughter luncheons and Oktoberfest and Founder’s Day…
The real shame is it’s all over. It’s co-ed now. The traditions are dead.

I’m sure new traditions have started since it went co-ed. They might include:
Waking in a strange bed with someone you just met last night, and trying to remember just WHO THE HELL puked on your new shoes while you run across campus late for an accounting final.
Contracting your first case of a venereal disease, and the associated visit to student health brings to light knowing the doctor as a family acquaintance.
Getting stoned at the frat house and watching your roommate have sex on the couch in front of you while you mentally rate their technique, but ultimately learn nothing new.
Ya know…just generalities.
I’m just guessing though.
The nurse back then at Rosemont, Anita… no matter the reason why you walked in to see her, the first question was always, “Are you pregnant?”
“Anita, I think my foot’s broken”
“Could you be pregnant?”
Rick Strickler, aka, “Nubian Princess.”
Nubian Princess! Ha! Did you check out the link I have in the post? It’s to a page Rick Strickler created YEARS ago. Can’t believe I found it. I tried to find him on LinkedIn. I am curious as to what he’s up to– but I found nothing. And nothing on Postman Roy, either. You’d think he’d be playing clubs in Philly. Oh well.
