Donna Lee

I went to the dollar store this evening and bought green and red napkins and paper plates. I am really hoping inspiration strikes and I can come up with something to make that excites me for Saturday. At least I know never to do that Mom’s Bake At Home Pizza again.

We also went to Five & Below. It is a store aimed mainly at teenagers. Lisa said she wanted to go because she had a dream that we went there. She also said that in her dream we were vampires competing in a beauty pageant and we swung down mountains using harp strings.

When I was at my parent’s house yesterday, I found a bag of some old clothes. In the bag was an outfit that I bought years and years ago. I am thinking I was maybe 15 or 16 years old. I remember falling in love with the outfit. I bought it and NEVER WORE IT. NOT ONCE! I took the darn thing out of the bag and tried it on. It was huge on me. It looked absolutely ridiculous. I stood there looking at myself in the mirror and I kept thinking, WHAT PROMPTED ME TO BUY A BLACK SILK NINJA UNIFORM? I don’t know. I am thinking I must have been going through some Bruce Lee phase. At any rate, it is now hanging in my closet at the donnavilla with the tags still on it. Maybe one day I will get fat again and want to dress Asian. I don’t know.

yummy

I had such a hard time going to sleep last night. I think it was the coffee I drank with dessert that kept me up. Lisa and I went home as we usually do on Sunday evenings. My mom made a tremendous meal. Chicken parm, pasta, and salad. It was so delicious. Dessert was that Ozgood pie that notmartha posted back a few weeks ago. Mom and I were going to make it together but she got antsy and did it on her own. I quite liked it. Dad said it was too sweet and Lisa thought it was too tart. On Saturday I am having a few friends over for a little Christmas party. My plan was to make the Ozgood pie and I still think that will work. I figure it will go well with cider or spiced wine. I can also make gingersnaps.

Wonder Woman

Last night Lisa and I went to Target. Passing through the electronics section, the televisions were tuned to some channel that was broadcasting a very loud, very angry, music video. The men in the video were thrashing around and making the worst sound imaginable. I went from TV to TV and turned them all off.
“Donna, what are you doing?”
“Saving humanity, Lisa, saving humanity.”

Marxism and Fake Fur bedspreads

Friday, Lisa and I watched Teorema. Wow! It was strange and I enjoyed it but it wasn’t nearly as good as the movie I had in my mind. I thought it would be deeper and General Zod/Terrence Stamp would be more mysterious and ambiguous. Regardless, it was certainly fun to watch the maid turn into a saint and hover in the air. She was later buried alive and her tears became a stream. I got a kick watching the brother become an artist and piss on canvases (John do NOT get any ideas). And who could complain when the father stripped off all his clothes, ran to a desert and in the final frame of the film SCREAMS! I tell you, I love those crazy Marxist movie makers!

Here are some still images from Teorema. You will have to scroll down a bit.

An odd coincidence I noticed watching this movie. This is the second movie in a row and probably maybe the third or fourth movie in total in which all the characters have fake fur bedspreads. The movie before was La Matriarca and Catherine Spaak had a fake fur bedspread. I remember watching Ma nuit chez Maud and Françoise Fabian had a fake fur bedspread. Oddly enough, Jean-Louis Trintignant was in both La Matriarca and Ma nuit chez Maud. In addition to fake fur bedsrpeads, Ma nuit chez Maud and Teorema both shared a Marxist dialectic.

Sat Santa

Went to a flea market this morning. It was bitter cold but I had fun poring over scarves and gloves and kettle corn and other reasonably priced items. Lisa wanted to take Mom and I out for breakfast but we opted to make it ourselves. Mom thawed the blueberries she and Dad picked over the summer and made topping for the pancakes. Oh it was good! Later we took Bo to Petsmart and got his picture taken with a very poor imitation of Santa. The picture is okay. Now all I want to do is take a nap.

Cuban-Italian

It snowed again. This time it was much more than a dusting. Lisa had to once again dig a path for Bo. He’s getting better. I think he likes having a cheer-leading squad rooting for him. “Go pee pee, Bo!” “GOOD BOY, lil’ Bo is going pee pee!” “What a good pup, he made pee pee!” I really hope no one can hear us.

The pizza last night was great. Lisa came along which is quite unusual so the whole darn family was in attendance. At home we watched the end of CSI and then some show about missing people. Watching it, I said, “I so like Andy Garcia!” My mom responded, “Me too, but that is Anthony LaPaglia.”

Cars and pizza

Heading out the door to DeLorenzo’s for pizza. It’s been weeks since I’ve had pizza. I can almost taste it already.

Sunday I drop off my car at Howard’s house. He thinks a wire is loose in the dashboard, that is why the speedometer LCD keeps turning off. Howard also mentioned that I never had my car inspected in October. He will do that too. I owe him about 1,000 dollars from maybe 3-4 years ago. He did some engine work and he never invoiced me. I told him on numerous occasions, “Howard, I owe you money, just send me the bill and I will pay it.” He never sent me a bill. I hate knowing that I owe him money. Too much time has passed. I kinda think he has been overcharging me the last couple times I’ve been there to make up for it. I don’t know. It’s strange.
