My mom told me about Bruno Mars a few months ago– just that she enjoyed some of his songs. And then last week she told me he was the little boy Elvis stylist in Honeymoon in Vegas. I found this clip and think it’s awesome that this little boy went on to so much more… of course, I think his current music sucks and he should have stuck to Elvis songs… but that’s just me. I’ve been listening to pretty much nothing but Elvis since Elvis Week 2008 and I have yet to grow tired of it.
Just so you don’t think I am totally against all contemporary music, I do love Eli “Paperboy” Reed:

Donna, take a note from your mom and broaden your musical interest. Elvis forever, but Bruno is a rare talent. Lady Antebellum has some great music, I was just recently introduced to them. My Chemical Romance is no longer on my play list because the last few things I heard of theirs was not to my taste. The great thing about music is that you can turn it off or turn it up.
If you get a chance, check out Jim “The King” Brown from Ireland. I bought his first album (Gravelands) about 10 years or so ago and it was great. His “Elvis” cover of Eddie Cochran’s Somethin Else made the album a must buy. All of the other songs were just icing on the cake. Here are a couple of link on YouTube:

I’d love to hear what you think.
Love the concept! Doug Church (I think) did something similar, covering contemporary country songs as Elvis.
I will have to seek out more of his stuff.
What I really would like to see… instead of covering songs like Elvis… is coming up with NEW songs that are worthy of Elvis.
The only good cover of Elvis is the covering of my ears when his music plays.
