Cool Baby! McQueen Cool!

Life recently published some never before seen pictures of Steve McQueen. Here’s my favorite from the set:

I am trying to create a Rhapsody playlist of the albums he has spread out on the floor. The only ones that I can clearly make out are Miles Davis: Kind of Blue and Sinatra and Basie: An Historic Musical First. Can you help?

Here’s the playlist so far: Share Steve McQueen’s Album Collection

    The Sonny Rollins album is
“The Modern Jazz Quartet at Music Inn – Guest Artist: Sonny Rollins”

I just figured out another one– The Atomic Mr Basie– it’s the album with the mushroom cloud on the cover.

The mushroom cloud cover had me puzzled. Maybe that was the jazz group Hiroshima? Their debut album was in 1979, and McQueen kicked the bucket in 1980.
But those Life Magazine photos are mid-1960s-ish, so that couldn’t be right.
(And what musical group would be so crass as to name itself after a horrendous historical event, then put a picture of that event on an album cover? Maybe Megadeath or Anthrax?)

Concierto De Aranjuez (Part One) by Miles Davis is nicely done….why wouldn’t it be? Miles Davis is
a jazz god. But I prefer the traditional spanish guitar
version of this great Rodrigo composition:
