Stone age

I let my RAZR discharge and now I am finding I can’t charge it through the USB charger attached to my computer as I normally use. Darnit! I can’t find the regular plug. This means I am going to have to go and plug it in my car charger until it gets enough of a charge that I can switch it to the USB charger. Ugh! Pain in the neck.

How is it Friday? These weeks are going by in a blur it seems to me.

Tonight’s plans are to go out to eat and then see a movie. At least I think those are the plans. Nothing written in stone.

Huggie barbie

I made an Indian dinner for Lisa and me. Lisa was really surprised that I cooked and that I didn’t have other plans. She said she was sure I would be out with Rob. I told her that we are at a point where he trusts that I am his partner and we don’t have to spend every single second together.
“OOOOOOh, you’re partners like Starsky and Hutch! Which one is which?”
“Well, I always fancied myself Ken…”
“Ken? Wait does that mean Rob’s Barbie? Kinky!”
“LISA! KEN HUTCHINSON!!!! David Soul’s character!?! HELLO, McFly!?!?!”
“Oh, I knew that.”

The Office

Rob visited last night. He came after work. The last time I saw him was Sunday evening. I am pretty sure this is the longest amount of time we’ve gone without seeing each other since Blobfest– or was it when we met at South of the Border? Two and a half days. We didn’t do much other than listen to Tina Turner on Rhapsody and watch my favorite parts of Viva Las Vegas. Luckily, I was tired and Rob was spared the sight of me doing my Ann Margret thigh-slapping impression.

This week is going by fast but not fast enough! Yesterday I heard my office should be ready by Labor Day. That means I will say good bye to my home office and hello to an office in Philadelphia! I can hardly wait. I feel this is a good thing for me. A very good thing! Personally and professionally. Regardless of the tax increase and commuting costs.

13:61 BC

The clock in the kitchen is wrong. Very wrong. Like 5 hours off. How it happened, I don’t know. I am thinking it’s the batteries although why it just doesn’t stop completely is baffling to me. I know I need to take it down and replace the batteries and hope that fixes the issue. The problem is I don’t feel like taking it down, searching for batteries and then trying to get it to hang back up. What is most odd is the feeling I get each time I look at the clock. It feels so incongruous and wrong and I am deeply bothered by the incorrect time. YET I WON’T FIX IT.

Oh my goodness gracious!

My bank’s Web site has been going through tons of changes and I find that quite often I can’t log on. Earlier this month it really inconvenienced me because I needed to pay my credit card bill and I couldn’t get through to do it. The day the bill was due I logged on and hit the pay bill tab, okayed the 12.00 immediate funds transfer fee and thought nothing more of it. Today I went on and noticed the payment had never taken place. I called their Customer Satisfaction Representative (HA!) and tried to see what I could do. The woman was completely rude to me. I thought she would tell me that she could process the payment right there on the spot, charge me the 12.00 immediate funds transfer fee and wipe the 35.00 late fee and at least note that some error had occurred that prevented my payment. Instead the woman told me I had to produce a numerical code that showed the online bill pay transaction to prove that I am not lying. At first I was very calm but this woman’s voice and the way she talked to me, as if I was lying, just really angered me. Plus, I didn’t have my morning coffee yet which might account for why I became so unhinged. I said, “I’ve been a customer since 1999, I have never had a late payment, how dare you accuse me of lying to you, I have called to try to resolve this issue and you are treating me like a piece of shit!”
The woman then said that she would be forced to disconnect me because of my unprofessional word choice. I told her that I would be the one disconnecting the call and I would appreciate her marking in her notes that this customer is very disappointed. I hung up.

Now I feel terrible. I try to always be courteous but this woman really upset me. My one fear is that this will come back to bite me karmically. I make a lot of cold calls and I would hate to see people acting to me as I acted to that woman. Of course, that woman was really rude and I am always very polite. Darn her to heck!

GACK!

I spent yesterday in NYC. It was the first time I was there in two weeks. The Philadelphia office is close to ready. I believe the one thing missing is furniture. It will be nice working from a true blue office. It might get me more focused. Without a doubt it will help me separate work from regular living. It’s important to have that separation and I rarely have ever had it having almost always worked from home. The commute into Philly is far better than the commute into NYC. I am guessing from door to door it’s one hour. I wish it were less. Regardless it’s much better than the two hours it takes to get into NYC.
