If anyone watches Regis and Kelly Lee, keep an eye out for me in the audience tomorrow! My aunt and I are going to New York and she has tickets for the show. I don’t know how these things work but I suspect there is a chance the camera may pan the audience so I may get some national exposure!!! John said he is going to TIVO it. I just need to make sure I don’t do anything embarrassing. I certainly don’t want to be immortalized picking my nose.
I remember an episode of Kung Fu: The Legend Continues in which Kwai Chang Caine is introduced to Regis Philbin and Caine’s response is, “Regis Philbin? Isn’t that a type of plant?”
I must wake up very early tomorrow morning. My aunt told me I must be at her house by 5:45 AM! That means I must leave the Donnavilla by 4:45AM! Tonight I am going to get everything ready so all I really must do is wash and dress and then dash out. Hopefully I can get ready in 45 minutes. I think that is possible.

Regis is a national treasure (?) now, but back around 1969 he was the on-air sidekick of Joey Bishop, who had a late night talk show opposite Johnny Carson. On live television, Regis became upset with Bishop and walked off the set, never to return. Needless to say, that incident didn’t endear him to network executives. It’s a minor miracle that he’s come back to become the most popular individual on TV. (Want to achieve immortality?

Oops…a slight correction. According to wikipedia, Regis walked off the Joey Bishop Show but later returned…
“Philbin gained his first national exposure in 1967 as Joey Bishop’s sidekick on The Joey Bishop Show (1967-1969). Bishop liked to tease Philbin, but the teasing stopped after Philbin walked off the set during a live broadcast, and stayed away for several days.”
Some things never change. Regis is just as prickly now at age 72 as he was at age 35. I dare anyone to tease the egomaniacal Regis Philbin…double dare ya.
(Now talk show hosts routinely imply that their sidekicks and band leaders are drug addicts or abnormal in a sexual way…re: Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien). And no one complains.)
