Love’s Fire

The play that John and I went to on Saturday was enjoyable. Who would have thought gay cowboys eating pudding would be so compelling? I am teasing, there wasn’t any pudding. Don’t get the wrong idea, gayness isn’t something that bothers me; I grew up loving Tony Randall. In April, the troupe will put on Godspell, I can hardly wait!

Urinetime

Little Bobo sealed his own fate. You may remember a few weeks ago I found pee stains in the corner of the dining room which prompted me to rent a steam vac. On Friday, I found more pee stains on the dining room carpet. Lisa and I moved the dining table and we were absolutely astounded by Bobo’s work. He’s a veritable Jackson Pollack working in urine. When he does it, I don’t know. Why he does it, I don’t know. Why I don’t smell it until it accumulates, I don’t know. Why I didn’t make it a routine to go in the dining room and look for pee after I found out that it is something he does, I don’t know. What I do know is as I scrubbed the carpet on my hands and knees with tears streaming down my face, I admitted something that I thought we wouldn’t have to do. “Lisa, we can’t trust Bobo to be free in the house. When we can’t watch him, he must stay locked up in the kitchen. No more free reign.” I am truly sorry Bobo but you sealed your own fate.

Stellarium

This is really cool!
Stellarium is free GPL software which renders realistic skies in real time with openGL. It is available for Linux/Unix, Windows and MacOSX.
With Stellarium, you really see what you can see with your eyes, binoculars or a small telescope. Stellarium is also used in planetariums

Of course, I grew up watching Jack Horkheimer: Star Gazer. (Back then it was called, Star Hustler)

On your Mark

The Makers Mark party was incredible! It was held in a back room of Chickie and Pete’s and EVERYTHING WAS FREE! Food kept coming out and any drink with Maker’s Mark was on the house. Dave Pickrell, Maker’s Mark’s Master Distiller was there and I took a picture of him and John. John recognized him from the DVD that Maker’s Mark sent him as a Maker’s Mark Ambassador. I think he really liked us because he invited us down to Kentucky and promised us that we could dip our very own Maker’s Mark bottle into red wax. Lisa and a friend from work were going to some party in Philly but it was so crowded that they decided they needed to find something else to do so she called me and asked if they could join us. “Of course!” I said.

Every hour they raffled away prizes. I was one of the first to win and I got a hip flask that I gave to Lisa and a t-shirt that I gave to John. John later won a t-shirt that he gave to Lisa’s friend and two glasses dipped in red wax. Later Lisa won a framed poster of the Maker’s Mark insignia; she gave it to John. Goodness, this is beginning to sound like a public service announcement for sexually transmitted diseases. At any rate, we all ended up happy.

John drove me back home and at the front door he said to me, “There’s things about me you don’t know, Donna. Things you wouldn’t understand. Things you couldn’t understand. Things you shouldn’t understand.”
“I don’t understand,” I replied.
“You don’t want to get mixed up with a guy like me. I’m a loner, Donna. A rebel.”
And then he disappeared into the dark night.

Please Stand By

Donnaville is having some technical difficulties (what else is new?). The syndicated Buzznet images are producing a strange error. It shouldn’t interfere too much unless you have your monitor set to an extremely low resolution (Hiya Mom!). I sent an email to Buzznet letting them know of the issue although I am not holding my breath that I will hear from them anytime soon.

Easy to be Hard

My jaw feels good. Not 100% but definitely better than in days past. I have one meeting today and then I am off, making up the Saturday that I had worked last week. The one thing I need to accomplish is cleaning the house because John is picking me up with his sister and her husband in tow. I don’t care if John sees my messy house but I really don’t want his sister and her husband to witness it. It shouldn’t take me long to make it look nice. Just need to pick up the mail and vacuum and make sure everything is straightened.

Yesterday I took off the days leading up to Thanksgiving (Mon, Tues, and Wednesday). I can hardly wait.

Turns out the play John and I are going to see on Saturday has something to do with Shakespearean Sonnets. I am so not used to all this culture John is subjecting me to. I can almost feel my heart starting to bleed again.

Estimates and Pudding

The estimates for the heat pump have come in and they aren’t as bad as I feared. They are by no means a walk in the park but they aren’t going to bankrupt me.

This evening is Pizza Night at DeLorenzo’s. Lisa came home from work early but she decided she wouldn’t join us at DeLorenzo’s. She rarely does. As usual, it will be me and the parental units. I ate very little today in preparation for tonight’s feast. I had some coffee, a tiny bit of leftover Chinese food, couple of triscuits, and one bonbon. I think that gives me enough leeway to eat like a pig. What really helped me control my hunger is the pain in my jaw. Chewing is not easy. If this continues, I am going to become an honorary member of the Thurston Howell appreciation society.

Tomorrow John Beck is coming to town. We’re going to a bar that is having a Maker’s Mark party or something. On Saturday, we will see a play. I am praying that it’s Bye Bye Birdie but knowing John it’s going to be some weird hippie play about gay cowboys eating pudding. It’s going to be strange seeing so much of John Beck. I hope I don’t tire of him. 🙂

Google Dance

My Google PageRank is back up to a 5. Somehow it dropped down to a 4 for a few months. I don’t know why that happened especially since it occurred during a time when my traffic was growing. When I saw that it had dropped, I started to check out the PageRank of other Web sites. It really gnawed at my soul that Google liked so many sites more than Donnaville. I mean, I love Google, why don’t they love me back? Well, I guess whatever I did or said or linked to has been forgiven and I am back to a 5 which I think is a very respectable PageRank. Especially for a peon like me. I do have a desire to see my ecosystem ranking increase but I am not really all that interested in getting more hits. The more people that visit the more mean-spirited and cruel comments appear and I really don’t have time for that. The thing is, I prefer the sound of Marauding Marsupial, Adorable Rodent, and Flappy Bird to Slithering Reptile.

GET BACK, BOBO!

I had a night from hell and Bobo is responsible. How it happened, I am not sure, but he was positively worked up to an almost manic state last night. It was time for us to go to bed and he wanted to run from room to room and spin around. Lisa had a meeting in the morning so I told her I would deal with him. I tried to calm him but nothing worked. He just wanted to bury bones in my bed. I eventually fell asleep despite the fact that he was dancing atop my sheets. At 4am he started to nibble at my fingers and once I was awake he made it clear he had to pee. I AM NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT THAT– I like it when he tells me he has to pee, I just wish he could have held it a couple more hours. I know he is a little dog but he pees so much. At 7, at 11, at 2, at 5, at 8, at 11, and sometimes at 4am. And if I try to get him to wait, he pees in the dining room. When will he develop the ability to hold his urine? I thought by now we would be at every 6-8 hours. Grrrrrl!
