BECK

I’m awake!! It’s not like we stayed at that Goth club until 2am. We left at 1. Besides, The Elvis and Friends show is on WOGL 98.1 and we all have priorities!

John Beck’s party was great fun. I was a bit hesitant in the hours leading up to the party because I really don’t know any of John Beck’s friends and I didn’t know what the party would be like… And let me tell you, when Lisa and I walked in, the room got quiet and everyone stared at us with expressions on their faces that read: Who the heck are you two?” I couldn’t see John Beck anywhere and I thought about turning around and running out of the house but John’s sister came over and she made us feel welcomed. John eventually came out (wearing a Pee-wee Herman t-shirt) and the next thing I know, Lisa and I are part of the party. And to think I wanted to run away.

Later we joined the rest of the group at a Goth Club located in Newark. As all of you know, I am not a Goth type of person yet I still went and even ventured onto the dance floor. I have found that when confronted with music that doesn’t exactly move you to dance, just stick out your chin and wiggle your butt, you’ll be okay. That’s what I did and it worked! Sadly, right when Lisa and I left the club, the dj started to play 80’s music. Oh well!

You guys should have seen some of the people on the dance floor. It was wild. There were three girls huddled together… KISSING?!?! Girls! Three of ’em! There was a person who’s gender I could not even fathom. There were a bunch of people with metal spikes protruding from their faces! And John Beck was there too… but by that time he was on his third costume change and no longer wearing the Pee-wee Herman t-shirt. I know, I was disappointed too. And no, the t-shirt he changed into did not contain the visage of Ed Grimley. Costume change #2 occured before the outing to the Goth Club, right around the time his mom brought out his birthday cake (It read, EAT ME). John left the room, only to return wearing his underwear. He ran around the party and bellowed, “I got da MAIL!” The odd part is that no one acted as if it was anything but entirely normal for John to do. Artists!

Happy Birthday, John Beck! Bon Voyage!
