Turns out, instant oatmeal is a better solution for me. It cooks in 90 seconds and doesn’t spill out of the bowl while microwaving. What I’ve been doing is using 1/3 cup of oatmeal rather than 1/2 cup and then when it’s out of the microwave I add a little regular granola with raisins and almonds. Finish it with some Silk milk and you got a wonderfully filling breakfast! Very yummy!
Time out!
I think I need to take a day off work. I am feeling overwhelmed. The problem is, I took a couple days off a week or so ago and I haven’t been able to catch up so I am not quite sure if taking another day off is going to really help me out. My real problem is that I have been unable to catch up on the weekends or at night. I try but I just get nothing accomplished. This weekend I had great intentions but ZIP ZILCH NADA! No dent was made. Not even a scratch. And then I think, I will just work really hard tomorrow and I’ll get it all finished. HA! It’s this insane cycle I’m caught up in and there’s no end in sight. Perhaps by finally letting it out and exposing it I will be able to rise above it. Maybe.
Trent Love
I went to Vegas a little over a year ago and saw Trent Carlini perform. I made a very short video clip of his performance and posted it to YouTube. This little clip gets so much traffic I simply can’t get over it. What really surprises me is the sheer number of really cruel comments. Trent apparently has very few fans. Although I can’t shake the feeling that it’s really just one person under numerous usernames writing these trollish comments. In the beginning I attempted to moderate the comments but it finally came to a point I just surrendered. The comments just keep getting more and more bizarre and I have to admit that I am quite entertained by them.
Wedding Countdown
One wedding down, two more to go! Saturday was the big shindig. Rob’s niece was getting married and she invited Rob and guest. Guess who was guest? I wore my black SJP/Bitten/8.98 dress and got one compliment. The wedding was beautiful. It took place in a little garden right behind the manor house at a golf club. The ceremony was really short. A woman officiated– it was nondenominational. The groom and his groomsmen entered. Wham! The bridesmaids went down the aisle followed by the bride. BAM! You take her? You take him? You’re married! THANK YOU MAAM! Once it was finished, we walked up the stairs to the manor house and that’s where the reception took place. It was a very classy reception. It wasn’t overdone nor was it cheap. It was really very nice.
Dunkalicious
This morning I awoke at 6am. I stayed in bed until 6:45. I somehow was able to leave my house a little after 7. I had dreams of the guys from the movie, Superbad wanting to make a prequel to the movie Swingers. I also dreamt I ran into my old college friend Shawn and she asked if she could live with me because she was pregnant and had no where else to go. I took her in to my very odd looking house which seemed to be decorated with the stage sets Erin and I designed and painted back in 10th grade for our school’s production of the Music Man.
Last night I watched the movie, Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus. I loved it, of course. I love all movies that contain dwarves. And wolfmen. And giants. And armless women. These are my people! There was also a TON of nudity! But not the type of nudity you may expect. This was regular-looking people nudity. There were a lot of floppy body parts shown. This is the type of nudity I saw when I visited the nude beach on the Island of Ruegen in the Baltic Sea oh so many years ago. (It really is a shame the short shelf life of Germans)
The next movie on my Netflix queue is a movie recommended by Nathan called, Lars and the Real Girl. I am very much looking forward to seeing it. I am hoping there may be a break in all this nudity that the last few movies I watched contained. Not that I don’t appreciate the human form unclothed, I just think my eyes need a break.
(I got the most wonderfully tasty cup of coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts this morning.)
No Quizzo
Listening to XM on my way to the train station, something dawned on me. One of the reasons I love XM is that unlike regular radio stations, XM doesn’t do any of those stupid contests. Not once in the year I have been listening have I ever heard them ask for the 9th caller or request for people to mail in postcards or call names from some list every hour on the hour.
Me love XM.
Compounding
My alarm went off at 5– I crawled out of bed at 5:30. I slicked my hair back into a ponytail and am almost ready to go to work. Last night I went to a lecture after work. I couldn’t find parking nearby so I ended up walking what seemed like a mile… in HIGH HEELS. My feet ached and are still aching. I left the lecture early because my feet hurt and because I couldn’t take the pinko commie undertones of the speech. I talked to myself out loud as I walked back to my car. I couldn’t care less if the UPenn students thought me insane– I was in such frickin’ pain I needed motivation. “Donna, you can do it, just put one foot in front of the other, you will soon be at your car and you can get off your feet…” On the ride home I visualized how I would soak my feet in hot water and baking soda, and eat mint chocolate chip ice cream, and drink beer as soon I got home. And I did exactly that. My feet are still aching, especially the ball of my right foot. There is a tremendous blister sitting there, blowing raspberries at me. I hope as the day wears on, my feet start feeling better.
Fresh awake!
On Sunday night, as I crawled into bed, I said to myself, “Donna, you are going to wake up feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to face the day with fire and enthusiasm!” Monday morning arrived and my alarm woke me up at 5am. Guess what? I woke up feeling great! At 7am I was in my office! Last night I decided to try the same thing. “Donna, you are going to wake up feeling refreshed, rejuven….” I woke up this morning feeling…. pretty okay. I got out of bed at 5:15 and was at work by 7:30. I am pretty proud but it does seem like a gradual slipping may be occuring. Let’s see what happens tomorrow morning.
I don’t think I mentioned watching The Dewey Cox Story: Walk Hard, over the weekend. It was a funny movie and I enjoyed it. I especially enjoyed all the full frontal male nudity. You just don’t see it enough in today’s movies. I don’t know why the change. I mean, back in the 40’s and 50’s, every movie came equipped with one. Think back to that memorable nude scene Humphrey Bogart had in Sabrina or Cary Grant’s hilarious “flash” in Bringing Up Baby. I for one miss that innocent attitude toward the naked penis that was enjoyed back in the day. Let’s hope The Dewey Cox Story ushers in a new period in film, one that exalts the male physical form in all its gloriousness.
Dreams
I dreamed I was riding in a huge SUV driven by my Aunt Helen. Instead of being on a road, we were actually atop a small, brown river. We were talking about stocks and other investment vehicles. Looking out at the river before us, I could see the outline of large fish and anacondas in the water, swimming. I couldn’t shake the fear that the SUV really wasn’t seaworthy and I prayed that all would be fine. Catching glimpses of my Aunt Helen out the corner of my eye, she showed no signs of fear or worry.
Typical
I got into work earlier than usual. My intention was to finish the work I planned to do on the weekend but put off. Now I am sitting here at my desk, surfing the Web and not doing my work. Isn’t that always the case?
