I had the strangest dream last night. I dreamt, as I slept, my arm somehow broke in two right below the elbow. My arm, or at least what was left of it felt fine and there was no blood. When it was time to awake in my dream, I grabbed my arm and stuck it back on and it stayed. I wiggled my fingers and although looking slightly green, it functioned fine.
Shoulda already done but didn’t
1. TAXES
2. EXPENSES
3. PUT AWAY CLOTHES
4. LAUNDRY – at least 1 load or 2
5. FINALLY ROLLOVER THE OLD 401K (it’s been a year!)
6. CLEAN BATHROOM
Thinking about it, I should have bought light bulbs for my bathroom when I was at Walmart yesterday– light bulbs that go above the mirror. And I really have to find a new storage idea for my makeup and brushes. I have this tower of wire drawers. That sounds kinda odd but that’s exactly what it is and it sits atop my sink and holds my makeup, hair supplies, and other toiletry items. At first it was a real Godsend but over the year it have become a real blight. I need a better way to store my things– especially not so much out in the open. The problem is there is very little room under the sink because of the pipes. I should have especially looked for options when I was at Ikea and Walmart but I just simply wasn’t thinking. Next time.
I am not overly excited a new week has begun. I wish the weekend kept going and I could have more days of doing nothing special. As it is, that is not a good way to start the week and so I am just going to pretend I am happy to be going back to work. That usually does the trick. Before I know it, I believe myself.
Shop shop chop
Looks like the Brideshead Revisited remake is back on track. My favorite characters, Anthony Blanche and Kurt have yet to be cast. My choices? Til Schweiger would make a wonderful Kurt. I am not coming up with a good Anthony– anyone have any suggestions?
I spent the weekend at Rob’s farm. We shopped and walked and ate and watched tv. It was a nice weekend.
We went to Ikea and I bought the cutest teapot for only 8.99! Check it out:

Later we went to Walmart and I bought a TV Stand, a blender, red capri pants, and a glass cutting board.

I also got some peeps and Mini-Cadbury Eggs! What a great idea! These Mini-Cadbury Eggs are the most perfect size– even more perfect than the original size which I always felt was a little too much.
Tomorrow I must MUST must finish my taxes. No more excuses. I also need to do my expenses. It’s been weeks– months. I am so lazy.
TGIF
I am so happy the weekend is here! I left work a tad bit early, caught an early express train and got home BEFORE 6:00! The first thing I did once I got home was queue up some Harry Belafonte and I started cleaning the little patio outside the kitchen. I got all the leaves collected and the deck swept. I even washed off the little bistro table and chairs. Now I can sit out there in the evening if I so desire. Next thing I will have to do is clean the back patio. That will take an awful lot more work but it will be worth it. I like being able to sit out there too.
UGH!
I am bleary-eyed! I just exited out of Turbo Tax online. I’m nowhere near finished but I am tired and can’t think straight so I figured I’d finish up later. My Uncle Dick, who is not my uncle, he’s an old family friend and my accountant and he likes me to call him Uncle Dick, ANYWHO, he told me I should just do my taxes myself this year. He said it’s simple and I would have no trouble doing it. Maybe I’m not having any trouble but I am still worried I am missing stuff but I can’t imagine that Uncle Dick has any more information on any of it so I guess I really shouldn’t be so worried. I can’t wait to be finished with it.
Waking up so early this morning really exhausted me. At 11am I was ready for a nap! This evening I bought a hoagie for dinner. I so wished I had a beer or some wine to go with it but alas, the people I love, love alcohol and there is never any left when I want it. Oh well! Hmmmm, I think there is some creme de menthe in my closet, maybe that will do the trick.
I can’t wait for the weekend. I hope the weather stays nice. We shall see.
Yawn
It’s 5:30 and I am ready to go. I am wearing one of my dresses along with a pair of NO RUNS pantyhose. This is the third pair I’ve worn. The last two I have thrown away because they got snagged and instead of forming a run, they just got a little hole. It was by far better than having a run but I would prefer if they weren’t prone to the inevitable snag.
I am sitting here and instead of doing a review of my day and what I will accomplish, I’ve been thinking about the episode of House I watched last night and why I rarely if ever watch television. This episode showed Dr House in various locations, trying to pee. Eventually he catheterized himself and they showed the yellow liquid running through a tube and puddling into a bag. I almost wished they had used the blue liquid that is the substitute for blood and piss in commercials. Later, a patient contracted a yeast infection or some other infection that typically crops up in the va-jean (As Borat would say) but it appeared in his mouth. The doctors had to ask when was the last time he was in that region of his girlfriend’s body. Two of those doctors then had sex in a store room.
I am not sure why I subjected myself to any of this OR why I have just subjected YOU to the retelling.
Where is Dr Kildaire? Where is Dirk Bogarde in one of his old Doctor movies?
I survived
This morning I had to deliver a speech– a speech that was given to me Thursday evening. I probably should have spent the weekend memorizing the speech and practicing my delivery. Instead, I decorated Easter Eggs with Audra and Steve and Lisa. On Sunday, Rob and I went to the King Tut Exhibit. Last night, I finally started studying. As it is, everything worked out okay. The presentation went smoothly and I got some nice feedback.
The King Tut Exhibit, although very interesting, was a little disappointing. Can you believe they didn’t have a single one of his sarcophaguses? One of which was featured heavily in all the advertising. Strange. Regardless, it was pretty amazing seeing items that were 3,000 years old.
Tomorrow I have to wake up super early. I mean super early! Like 4:30! I have to leave my house by 5:45 so I can be at the train station at 6:00 so I can get into the city by 6:45 so I can get to the meeting by 7:00. Ugh!
My Gaydar is taking the day off
I went to the NYC office today. In the elevator of the office building, there is a monitor that displays the news of the minute. As I was riding up to my floor, the headline read, “Carmen Electra and Joan Jett are a couple!”
I couldn’t help but gasp and say, “Joan Jett …is GAY?!?!?”
Immediately I was taken back a few years to a similar situation in which I uttered the immortal words, “You mean to tell me George Michael, IS GAY?!?!?!”
How I never connected those dots, I’ll never know. I never really thought of Joan being sexual, she was just a rocker. Good for her though. Carmen is hot.
Pretty Colors!
I use Google’s Personalized Home Page. Yesterday I noticed they had a new option where you can select a theme. I opted for the Beach theme– yes, I am yearning for summer! The cool thing is that not only does it have a very nice clean look but it changes with the time of day. In the evening it’s night at the beach and the moon is visible. This morning I watched the sun rise and right now, the sun is shining brightly on my Google Home Page.
Take a note, hosiery manufacturers! Think about taking a class in branding. It is important that you put a tag in the panyhose themselves that gives the name of the brand. This way, at the end of the day, when I see that the pair I am wearing have no runs or holes and I can wash them and wear again, I can check the tag and make a note to buy more pairs like it. As it is now, I desperately try to remember the brand, fail, and end up buying whatever brand is on sale at CVS that day.
On Monday I went to Boscov’s and bought 5 pairs of NO RUN panty hose (2.50 each!). Does anyone care to make a bet that instead of running, these stockings will just form lovely, perfectly round holes?
Uncle O’Grimacey
I was kinda aware of St Patrick’s Day. Wasn’t sure of the exact day but on Friday I noticed an awful lot of people wearing green. I have no roots in Ireland and so the holiday didn’t and doesn’t hold much meaning for me. Regardless, I WANT A SHAMROCK SHAKE! I am hungering for that minty green confection!
