Friday. What a long week. A bunch of appointments. Two of which seemed wondrously promising, actually turned out to be real doozies. The one I mentioned earlier- the other occurred yesterday. After talking for an hour, I told him my price and he says what he wants to do is have me work on commission so I would get a cut of all business done through the Website. He said this would be more lucrative for me than if he just pays me for the Website. Yeah, right. I walked away knowing I wasted my hour.
I have another meeting today. My hope is this one works out. I can’t have three bad meetings in one week, can I?
Things, Like Network Solutions in the Dark
And I want to continue spewing negativity at Network Solutions. I FINALLY got a call back over another issue I had… Each time I tried to do the autoinstall for themes or plugins or upload media, I got the error: Failed to connect to FTP Server. The fine folks at Network Solutions kept asking me to reenter my ftp information, insisting I was making a typo. I wanted to scream, “I AM NOT AN IDIOT!” So anyway, I surfed around the Network Solutions account page and found Reset File Permissions (Web Hosting > FTP & Content Publishing> Reset File Permissions) clicked it, and immediately WordPress accepted the FTP information and I was uploading just fine.
If you want to know how I resolved the inability to install WordPress… I just waited 10 hours. Turns out when it says, “It may take 10 minutes for WordPress to install completely” they really mean 10 hours. I totally recommend using Dreamhost. They may not have free phone tech support but at least everything works right so you never need to call them.

Hi Donna, we are extremely sorry about the delay in getting this straightened out. I am going to ensure Network Solutions’ Tech Support addresses the issue as soon as possible. Sorry again about the delay and the inconvenience this has caused.
You can reach the social media team at listen (@) networksolutions (.) com
Thanks,
Shashi
Hi Shashi,
I appreciate you writing, I really do. I put this post out there because I am sure there are many others having the same issue and I wanted them to see the solution that worked for me. If you re-read the post, you can see I resolved the issue myself– no need to get your tech team involved– they are very very nice people but they were totally unable to help me.
