I took a vacation day this Friday! That means an even extra extra long weekend! Rob and I plan on seeing the Violent Femmes perform at the Ram’s Head Live on Friday night. I am a little concerned about seeing them in person. In my mind they are still a young rebellous band and not a bunch of paunchy middle-aged men. I look at their recent photos and I just can’t come to terms with how they look. What happened?!?!!? Oh yeah, they grew up. I guess that happens to everyone.

Sadly, I don’t even remember the Violent Femmes from their rebellious adolescent years. I remember them more in their 90s pop stage when they guest starred on “Clarissa Explains It All.”

I just saw the Violent Femmes live at Liberty Lunch in Austin, Texas. They were great and hadn’t lost any of their edge. That was not too long ago. It was in, oh let me see, 1986. Only 20 years ago.
