Not too bad, really

Yesterday Lisa and I went to the Rosemont Happy Hour at Kelly’s. Except we missed it. We arrived after everyone had left. Lisa explained to me that Happy Hour is typically from 5-7. We got there well after 7. Trying to make the best of the situation I suggested we go to Gullifty’s for dinner. They sat us on their outside patio. We ordered two Yuenglings and as we took the first sip, it began to rain. The waitress cashed us out and told us we could go inside for a table. With our beers in hand we went inside only to be told they couldn’t seat us because they had no room. I turned to Lisa and said, “This isn’t our night, let’s go home.”
Lisa refused, “No! We are all dolled up and there is no way in heck I am going home! Let’s go into Philly.”

We drove to Philly in the rain. Ludwig’s Garten wasn’t terribly crowded and we got seats at the bar. We ordered some food and some beer and everything started to feel right. That is until we paid the bill and the rain increased ten fold.
“Okay, let’s just order another round of drinks and wait out the rain.”

An hour and a half later, the rain showed no signs of slowing. Thunder started rumbling and Lisa and I knew we had to get home to little Bo. Maybe I was just in denial but I really didn’t think we would get as wet as we did running through the streets of Philly. By the time we reached my Chevy Caprice Classic (1994, 26 gallon gas tank, 15 miles to the gallon) we were absolutely drenched. It looked like we had just emerged from a pool, completely clothed. We drove home through flooded roads. Luckily, the little Bo was okay when we finally arrived. He is such a survivor!

This evening is the Gala Reunion Cocktail Party and Dinner at Rosemont. I am all dressed up in my very pretty black cocktail dress that I bought at TJMaxx for some ridiculously low price. It should be a fun evening. I don’t even mind that I am going solo. All will be good!

Ok, this is a guy flick, but when you were describing the rain, I had this picture of Bill Murray in Caddyshack telling the preacher as they played golf in a downpour, “I don’t think the really hard stuff is going to come down for a while.”

Okay what exactly is “happy hour?” Why does it last for an hour and why does it always seem to involve drinking? 🙂
