What a difference a day makes

I watched the season premiere of 24. It’s actually the first time I have seen a whole episode. John talks about it incessantly. I only decided I would watch it after I caught a few minutes of a past episode in which Dennis Hopper showed up talking with an absolutely ridiculous Russian accent. “Now this is something I could get into,” I thought. Later John told me Geraint Wyn Davies was joining the cast. I LOVE Geraint Wyn Davies and I believe in supporting the actors from my old favorite shows. Geraint starred in one of my most favorite television shows, Forever Knight. It was about a vampire cop who wants to be mortal again, to repay society for his sins, to emerge from his world of darkness and his endless FOREVER NIGHT! Grrrrrrrrr!

I enjoyed watching 24 although I think I would have really loved it if instead of Keifer Sutherland, a young Charles Bronson starred. Of course that could never happen since Charles Bronson is dead. OK, so instead of Charles Bronson, imagine PETA WILSON! Speaking of Peta, one of the other reasons I decided to watch 24 is that I found out that the creators of La Femme Nikita are the ones who have created 24.

You never told us you knew archery.

Geena Davis (no relation) has made a successful
transition from being a 3rd rate actress into being a 1st rate archer. Plus, she dumped Jeff Goldblum. Life must be good for her.

Okay, I’ll shut up now and go to bed (I have insomnia).

Wow, Geraint Wyn Davies in “24”? Did he get a new agent or something? I thought after starring in two TERRIBLE attempts of sequels to great original movies (“American Psycho 2” and “Cube 2”) his career was over.

    1. That’s a sculpture from the Philadelphia Art Museum. Actually I did do archery when I was younger although I never competed.

    2. I thought Geena and Jeff were a great pair! Especially when it yielded such classic movies as Transylvania 6500 and The Fly.

    3. Should I be upset that you read donnaville when you are trying to fall asleep? 🙂

    4. Audge, I thought the same thing! Geraint is suddenly doing pretty well for himself. Although I think it has more to do with him being Canadian– I have a feeling 24 is actually shot in Toronto or Vancouver.

Okay, I’ll amend the comment I made about Geena Davis. She’s been a 3rd rate actress for only the past 15 years. She was very good in Accidental Tourist
and Thelma and Louise. But after 1991? But I’ll admit she looked pretty fetching in Earth Girls Are Easy, another cinematic masterpiece.

I’m prone to read anything when I’m surfing at odd hours. And what I said about you being an archer? That must have been a “Lisa comment”.

Actually, Ger has been doing a lot of stage work for the last couple of years. He appeared at the Stratford Festival and in King Lear in Lincoln Center in New York City with Christopher Plummer, Do Not Go Gentle a one man play about Dylan Thomas and Cyrano at the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, DC. He won a Helen Hayes award for best actor in a drama for that, too. BTW, Jon Cassar, who worked with Ger on Forever Knight is coproducer and director of “24”.
