Slavite Jeho!
Last night I attended an Epiphany service at an Episcopalian Church. The rector made mention of
Orthodox Christians’ celebration of Christmas on Jan. 7. Didn’t really know what he was talking about last night…now I know.
Maybe you can enlighten us non-Orthodox types
about your background…are your ancestors primarily Slovak, Czech, Russian, or some combination thereof? The Byzantine Rite originated in modern-day Istanbul…I think.
But there is some connection also to the Ukraine.
I’m not sure how all that ties together.
Years ago I had a girlfriend named Lee Ann Slavic, who was originally from Ohio. She was a
non-churchgoer who converted to Catholicism.
I suspect, however, that her ancestors were Catholic, maybe even Eastern Rite Catholics.
