The other day I saw a little bit of the movie Blow on TV. I noticed a strange connection between it and Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous. In Blow, Rachel Griffith, the actress who portrays Johnny Depp’s character’s mother is actually 5 years younger than Johnny Depp! The scene I watched, she even looked younger than him. In Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, Eileen Brennan portrays William Shatner’s mother. Eileen Brennan is 7 years younger than William Shatner. She also looks younger than the man whose mother she is portraying. How odd is that? This is not a new phenomenon. In fact, Angela Lansbury did this throughout most of her career.

You must be referring to Angela Lansbury’s role as the mother in The Manchurian Candidate.
Imagine being cast in a movie and being told by your agent “We think you’re perfect for this role…although you’re several years younger than your co-star, you actually look 20 years older.” Slap.
One thing about Sylvia Kristel…she appeared in all those Emmannuelle movies…my favorite is
Emmanuelle in Bangkok. And when read backwards, it’s an even better movie.
In Blue Hawaii, Angela was only 35 years old when the movie was filmed, just 10 year older than Elvis.
In All Fall Down, she was 12 years older than Warren Beatty. I am sure there are more.
I’ve only seen one Broadway show ever, an odd
musical called Sweeney Todd. I had a first row
seat and it looked like actors were performing in
my living room.
In that play was a veteran film and stage star.
