I was talking to John this evening and he told me that his parents named him after James T. Kirk. How weird is that? Mine did too!

I A M H O M E !!!!!
I left for the airport yesterday at 11:00 am. A colleague called the booth and told me that the airport was pure pandemonium and that I should leave as early as possible since the lines for security wrapped around the building. This sounded very plausible since I experienced that a few years ago at the Vegas airport. I immediately took off without so much as a goodbye to anyone. The airport was perfectly fine. The line was long but everything was under control and it didn’t take long to get through at all. Perhaps my colleague was in a different terminal? I don’t know. I waited to board with my 60-year old friend. We talked and I really warmed up to him. It was a nice conversation. Boarding took place at 1:00 and the plane jumped into the sky around 2:00. The first three hours of the flight I spent looking out the window. The United States is a big country. After three hours, darkness set in and I put in my Mobiblu earplugs and relaxed to music I downloaded from Record Brother. I can’t remember what state we were over, maybe Missouri but the pilot announced we would be hitting a “light show” and to look out the window. Sure enough there were bursts of colors traveling across the sky. I wasn’t sure if it was a storm or the aurora borealis but it was amazing. The plane landed around 10:00 and I got home at 11:00 pm. After checking my email, I went to bed.
Just…
All I want to do is go to bed! The 80’s New Wave Tribute band is no longer looking as interesting as it had earlier in the day. What the heck is wrong with me? I am not often in Vegas. I can sleep another day. How often do I have the opportunity to see an 80’s tribute band? C’MON and DO IT!!!
bright light city
I am so tired. Tonight there is an 80’s New Wave Tribute band playing at one of the restaurants at Mandalay Bay and I am going to try to check it out. The thing is they start at 11 and I don’t know if I can stay awake that long. I will try. I only work half a day tomorrow so I can stay out late without too much issue.
This afternoon a man came by the booth to visit me. I met him at the Las Vegas Airport while I waited for my bags at the baggage claim. He’s an older gentleman, probably in his 60’s. I thought he was just being nice and making conversation at the airport. Well, at the show today he asked me out to dinner AND asked if I would like to come back to Vegas with him so we could have some fun together. I didn’t take him up on either offer.
Vroom!
I’m in Vegas. You would think there are hundreds of Elvis Stylists performing. The only two I have found have shows in the afternoon when I am working. Not good. I guess I won’t be getting my Elvis fix this trip.
Last night I went to the Rum Jungle and had a delicious meal. Then a couple of us walked the strip to New York New York. We rode the roller coaster that wraps around the outside of the casino. What a ride! What a thrill! The rest of the group then went to a dance club, I went back to my hotel room.
Tonight I really want to see a show of some sort. I just don’t feel like spending an arm and a leg. I’ll figure something out.
ROLAIDS
I finished my presentation. I should be fine to go on this afternoon.
It is odd looking out a window and seeing not only a pyramid and sphinx but also the New York skyline, the Eiffel tower, a castle and mountains. It’s easy to forget you are in the desert. The big reminder of the climate for me is when I emerged from the shower this morning and within a minute my hair was dry.
I really should hunt down some breakfast. At least a cuppa coffee.
Vegas BABY
Here I am in Las Vegas! It’s only 10:00 but to me it’s 1:00am. I am crashing hard. My presentation isn’t finished but I think I will just do it in the morning. Time to sleep!
Vegas
I hope I have everything. It’s all packed and I am pretty much ready to go. I’m not looking forward to 5 hours in the air but I have an exit aisle, window seat which means I should be pretty comfortable. Although at first I was not looking forward to this trip, I have become more excited the closer it gets. It will be a nice change of pace for me.
I’m sad that I won’t see Trent Carlini perform. I wrote him last week but he never responded. Perhaps there is another Elvis show I can see. Maybe Legends. Depends on whether I have time or not.
Mind Garbage
I just remembered my dreams from last night. I dreamt I was dating…. get ready for this… GENE SIMMONS! He introduced me to his son who had plastic spikes growing out of his scalp. I had to visit Adam Carolla who had blond hair and so I got on a unicycle and made my way through crowded streets. At one point I passed a parade in which people were pulling a statue of San Genaro. I finally reached Adam and together we played Cyndi Lauper’s Time After Time on a little child’s organ.
Hallow’s Eve
I had a very quiet Halloween night. Lisa and I put Bobo in his costume and went to visit Joe and Judy, our neighbors across the street. We haven’t seen them in ages mainly because Judy is going through chemo and Lisa’s had strep throat. We didn’t want to infect Judy. They loved seeing Bobo dressed up and we talked for a good half hour to 45 minutes. When we were finished there, we walked over to Violet’s house. She was excited to see us and ushered us into her living room. Out on her coffee table she had some pictures that she showed us. They were from when she was younger. Gosh, she was a good looking woman! She also told us that she went to the gynecologist yesterday and the gynecologist asked if she was sexually active. “I am 90 years old, for goodness sakes!” she exclaimed. I could tell Lisa was getting a little antsy because her TV show Prison Break was going to go on shortly so we told Violet we had to get on back home.
Waiting for Prison Break to start, we watched a documentary on Harry Houdini. I got a kick that Teller was interviewed but he wouldn’t show his face. You could only see his silhouette. Regardless, he had quite an intelligent voice and he spoke very well. I really think he and Penn should change roles. I detest Penn. He should be the mute and Teller should do the talking.
Not a single trick or treater stopped by the Donnavilla! That’s what happens when you live in a community where there are very few children. Now I must get ready for my trip to Vegas!
