Übermensch

A few people have written to me asking why I didn’t mention the passing of Superman. Quite simply, it’s old news. George Reeves shot himself in the head back in 1959.

In my opinion, Christopher Reeve was better in period pieces: Somewhere in Time, Monsignor, The Bostonians, The Aviator, Anna Karenina, etc… Back in 1995, I remember a joke going around that I really thought horrifically funny: What’s the difference between OJ Simpson and Chris Reeve? OJ’s gonna WALK!

My last day of vacation is today. It has been so wonderful not thinking of work and just putzing around. I still have about 3 or 4 weeks left of vacation. I think I am going to start taking more time off. (Gosh, I hope I’m not addicted).

Levaquin? I know the stuff because I’m very prone to throat infections and they give me the stuff. Otherwise I’m stuck with a semi-high powered antibiotic….which makes my tongue black…joy. Anyways, I somewhat agree, he was better at Anna Karenina than at Superman. I just wish Hollywood would try to not “out do” their last film and end up with campy, poorly acted movie. OH well, i’ve just spent too much time out here in California and Hollywood.
    Good luck

I’m really sad about Christopher Reeve’s situation and his death; although honestly it feels a little hypocritical for me to have a particular reaction to his death because there are lots of people living with his situation who die every day; he just happened to be famous.

I have the opposite take on his acting; I thought he was an absolutely awful actor, kind of in the Keaneu Reeves mold-exceptionally wooden and stiff. I used to wince at his performances in in “regular” roles like “Somewhere in Time”. On the other hand, this very lack of depth (along with his appearance) made him, in my opinion, the perfect actor to play a film about a comic book character. I can’t imagine anyone doing a better job than he did in the first Superman movie.
