Friday, Lisa and I saw Down with Love. It was certainly not a great movie, but it was a lot of fun. Lisa and I agreed that although Ewan MacGregor was cute, he was no Rock Hudson. Riding home after the movie, we tried to figure what actor of today could be considered the Rock Hudson type. The only one we could come up with was Hugh Jackman. There really is an absence of tall, strapping, masculine, ruggedly handsome movie stars! I remember about a year ago I was flipping through the TV channels and I came upon the X-Men. I don’t watch violent movies so I never saw the X-Men when it was out in the theater. Watching this crazy movie, I was enthralled by the tall, dark, and hairy man…. so much so I called for Lisa to come down and take a look. “Oh, Lisa– I don’t know what this is but check this guy out… Wow, I really like him… he is so fuzzy!” Lisa then broke the news to me, “Donna, he’s 1/2 dog!” I was embarrassed and a bit disappointed, to say the least.
Last night I watched a Julie Newmar biography followed by Coupling. I am glad I discovered Coupling, it gives me something to look forward to each week. After Coupling ended, I watched the first 1/2 of Love Bites with Adam Ant. I really hope Ants Invasion make their way to Philadelphia one day. This morning I baked a cake and watched the Dean Stockwell film: Rapture. As much as I enjoyed it, it felt very strange seeing him perform love scenes with a 14 year old girl. It is a shame Dean Stockwell didn’t make more movies in the early 60’s.
OK! So my weekend consisted of watching silly movies and TV shows… At least I baked a cake.
