Drifting off

Last night I stayed up way past midnight. It wasn’t insomnia, I just couldn’t seem to turn off my laptop; you see, I spent the evening watching Ron Paul videos. His message invigorates me. The only problem is I am now feeling the lack of sleep from last night and all I want to do is curl up in bed and nap.

This morning I checked my calendar and I was surprised to see I had an appt to take my car to the service center. I had forgotten all about it. So instead of going to work, I spent another day working from home. Not a bad idea considering how ugly the weather is today.

I think my magical wireless EyeFi card will arrive today. I can hardly wait to try it out!

Bensalem, PA Missed Connection

You were the guy standing on Street Road* holding the Ron Paul sign this afternoon…
I was the business lady talking on a cell phone driving the Black Monte Carlo that had a GPS unit stuck to the inside of the driver’s side window who started waving wildly and honking the horn.

Just wanted to say, thanks!

*This is an actual name of the road– I am not being redundant.

Ommmmmm

Must calm down. I am not in a rush.

I feel slightly anxious for no real reason.

I worked from home this morning and now I am going to a meeting not far away. After the meeting, I will head to the office. This evening there is an evening event I must attend.

All is fine.

Financial Knowledge

I had made a pledge a couple years ago to get smart about finances and investing but instead of actually doing anything I just buried my head in the sand. This is the same approach I took with all my investments as evidenced by my total failure and loss of money. This year will be different!

I just bought these books:
“The Four Pillars of Investing: Lessons for Building a Winning Portfolio” William J. Bernstein
“Smart Women Finish Rich: 9 Steps to Achieving Financial Security and Funding Your Dreams (Revised Edition)” David Bach

Now I just gotta read them.

I will do it.

Smush

I ran over an animal on my way to work. It happened so quickly that I am not sure what kind of animal I hit. As soon as I saw that something was in the road, I braked but it was just too late. I felt a bump under my tire. I think the animal was a hedgehog or beaver or raccoon or maybe an opossum. I thought about turning my car around to see if I did hit it or if it needed help. Instead I just drove on, worried that I wouldn’t be able to handle what I might see.

On my way home, I kept my eyes peeled for the carcass. Oddly enough, I didn’t see anything. Either the road crew picked him up or an animal ate him or perhaps I just bumped the poor thing and he limped away almost perfectly fine.

I feel horrible but I really did react as best as I could in that situation. It’s a shame that woodland creatures are seemingly immune to the 100th Monkey effect.

January 7

I usually wait until after January 7th to take down the Christmas tree since that is when my father celebrated Christmas when he was a child– it’s the old Ruthenian Byzantine way. It’s many days past the 7th and I must take down the tree. It’s time. The thing is, I do enjoy Christmas and am sad to see it go. I guess tonight I will light a fire and take down the ornaments.

later than usual

More strange dreams plagued me although I can’t seem to really recall any of them. I should have left my house 10 minutes ago. HA! I am embracing my lateness. I didn’t roll out of bed until 6 and I took a shower and I ate breakfast. And I am blogging. I will catch a later train, it’s that easy. Silly thing is I had intended to leave early so I could get some things I missed yesterday accomplished prior to my regular morning activities. Nope.

Yesterday I visited a Financial Advisor who is going to help me get some of my finances in order. My question is this: If this guy is a great financial adviser– shouldn’t he have been wearing really expensive clothes and sporting a Rolex? Shouldn’t there have been a really fancy car in the parking lot? I didn’t see anything that looked impressive. His advice seemed good, of course it also sounded a lot like the parent’s voices in the Peanut’s cartoon specials. Wha Wha Wha Wha Wha.

I gotta take a class.

Magical wireless memory card

I bought the Eye-fi for my camera today. It looks like a normal 2GB memory card (no antennas, no protrusions, no cables) except it allows you to wirelessly upload pictures from your camera straight to your computer!! It seems too good to be true! I’ve been wanting to get a new card with more memory (so I can record all of Rob’s performances rather than just segments). The wireless part is pure gravy! I can’t wait to try it out.
