I set up the manger scene and I covered baby Jesus with toilet paper.
Brings back such sweet memories…
“Mom, why is there toilet paper in the manger?”
“Because I’m covering Baby Jesus.”
“Why?”
“BECAUSE BABY JESUS HASN’T BEEN BORN YET!”
Is this just an odd PA Coal-region thing or does everyone do it?

Mine’s wrapped up too, but that doesn’t really answer your question.
The toilet paper is an innovation – in my house we just put the baby Jesus statue behind the manger until Christmas…
We keep our Baby Jesus in the drawer until Christmas Eve.
I must have been out of tissues…it seems I used to cover the lad with tissue or cotton. My mother sometimes used one of my Dad’s clean handkerchiefs. It was only important to keep him out of sight until his birth.
The bad news is I just realized that I never removed the toilet paper from baby Jesus.
