I don’t know what’s wrong with me but for the last few weeks I have been feeling very nostalgic for the 90’s. All I want to do is watch La Femme Nikita, Xena, Forever Knight, KFTLC and Highlander episodes and remember what life was like when these were things I very dearly cared about. Work ended this afternoon and for some weird reason I thought I’d do a Google Image search on Nigel Bennett and on the third page of results was one of my very own images of Nigel! Check it out:

This image linked to Audra’s web page (The AudraNet) where there was a Nigel Bennett Ate My Balls page. (Sadly it’s been long deleted) I can’t remember if we created it together or if she just created it to make me pee my pants but I remember it was HILARIOUS! And making it even more hysterical, somehow Joxer from Xena fit into the storyline. But really– how freaking bizarre! Those “ate my balls” pages were everywhere and now I think people would just look at you as if you were insane (or Andrew Zimmern) if you even mentioned eating balls. I kinda miss those days of the Internet… the crazy sounds of the modem connecting, waiting with such anticipation for an image to load, using Hotbot or Altavista as a search engine, chatting with ICQ…. Heck, I remember the joy when I was able to surf the web with a computer that actually SHOWED IMAGES. Yeah, before that it was a black screen with green ugly text. I remember getting a pcmcia modem card (28.8) for my little laptop and I coded Donna’s Home Page on a monochrome (varying shades of purple) screen and when months later when I finally saw it on a true color monitor I was ashamed at how insane the colors looked! Unfortunately the wayback machine doesn’t go back that far. I recently heard that all the Geocities Web sites will soon be deleted. Sad. There really should be an Internet Graveyard.
Good times.

Little piece of trivia. My best friend in High School was the composer for the music in La Femme Nikita. He’s won two Emmys since.
Sean Callery!?!?!?!?
I was getting nostalgic too a day or two ago, I don’t remember if I heard this on TV or it was a song on the radio, but somebody uttered a line something like “old school like Altavista” and I thought that was so funny because I remember when that was THE search engine that gave the best hits.
Yep! I names my son after him!
Another piece of trivia. I briefly worked for a company that bought Altavista’s technology!
I can’t beleive you like Highlander too!! I bought some and rented on Netflix until I saw all the episodes! The final ones were terrible though! Hope all is well!
Opp
I love Highlander– I even went to a convention back in the 90’s.
Yes, I am a sick puppy
