Financial Knowledge

I had made a pledge a couple years ago to get smart about finances and investing but instead of actually doing anything I just buried my head in the sand. This is the same approach I took with all my investments as evidenced by my total failure and loss of money. This year will be different!

I just bought these books:
“The Four Pillars of Investing: Lessons for Building a Winning Portfolio” William J. Bernstein
“Smart Women Finish Rich: 9 Steps to Achieving Financial Security and Funding Your Dreams (Revised Edition)” David Bach

Now I just gotta read them.

I will do it.

    Hey Donna-

Please, please, please, make it a priority to read Bill Bernstein’s book. Don’t do anything until you read his book cover-to-cover.

Second, Vanguard has advisory services – they’ll develop a financial plan for you for $250 (flat); you simply have to fill out their survey and send it in.

However, if you can read and internalize Dr. Bernstein’s book. you can figure out what Vanguard would tell you, yourself.

Vanguard has the *lowest cost* investments generally available to the public, and, over time, keeping your investment costs down will serve you better than any other strategy out there (and there are many).
