My Rolling Rock Year

I am 33 years old.
When I was young

At age 33:

English feminist Mary Wollstonecraft wrote “Vindication of the Rights of Women”

Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic alone.

Jesus of Nazareth, a moral teacher and faith healer, was executed and eventually became the most renowned religious figure in history.

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote his essay, “Nature,” encouraging readers to see the miraculous in the common.

Vijay-Kumar Solanki realized that he was not a human being having spiritual experiences, but a spiritual being having human experiences, a realization that he says “changed his life forever”.

Would it be unkind to mention that the #1 song for the week of 8/31 through 9/6/74 was Paul Anka’s “(You’re) Having My Baby”?

Saying that Jesus was a “moral teacher and faith healer” is sort of like saying the Shakespeare was known for writing some good stories, or that George Washington was a well-known politician. Sorry, understatement is not needed here.

Here’s the thing, I didn’t know if I should edit that one. I am not sure what Internet protocol states on that type of thing so I just left it intact. I thought about deleting it as I deleted a couple others but I really wanted to keep it. .

I think those are Nanny’s hands– they are a bit gnarled and I don’t think your hands were that gnarled back in 1976. Plus, notice the purple polyester pants– I don’t think you’ve ever worn purple polyester pants… although Nanny most certainly did.

I know what you mean– my 30’s have been very enjoyable– the angst of my 20’s is gone– I am comfortable in my own skin– my dreams are dead and I am over it, it’s all good. What I’ve been finding is, with each year the bigger numbers are seeming smaller. 33 seemed so old when I was 29 but at 32, it wasn’t so bad and now I am 33, it seems downright young!
