My crappy computer is hosed. Complelely and utterly hosed. I can get it to boot but it doesn’t take long for it to crash. I need a new computer. It will be interesting to see how I survive in this in between time without a computer. RIght now I need to figure out if I want another laptop or if I should go back to a desktop. I am leaning to a desktop computer. Also, I gotta figure out exactly what it is I want in a computer. Right now, I just want something that works.

Just out of an abundance of caution, are you sure the problem is in the hardware and not something in the software?
Bummer if you have to replace it-I have this vague recollection that you bought this one only a year or two back.
Good luck with resolving this-my only semi-constructive suggestion is to make sure your backup measures will save what’s on there if the thing decides to completely kick the dust.
I KNOW! I got it not that long ago— the thing is, it’s not just the hard drive issue but the monitor is full of these multicolored vertical lines as well. It would be nice to have a computer that is free of all issues. It just sucks that it has to intersect with Christmas. Then again, I’m getting a great commission check for this month and a Christmas bonus so I should be fine.
