Ahoy me hearties!

I am a filthy hypocrite.

My date was at the bar waiting for me. Sitting on the bar stool next to him was a bouquet of flowers (GERBER DAISIES!!!!) and a gift bag full of dog treats for Bobo! I should have swooned. Instead, I was extremely freaked out. The only words that went through my head were, “Does not compute! Does not compute!” We went to the play at the Bucks County Theater. The production was dinky but the actors were incredibly talented! I was moved by the performance and when the asian broad met the white broad, I shed a tear.

It was such a lovely date. I am still rather shocked by the bounty. I don’t know what to make of it.

the american dream

Casablanca was great! Did you know that Humphrey Bogart only stood 5’8? He was a wee man! Regardless, he was quite imposing on screen.

This evening I have a date. The fellow is taking me to see Miss Saigon! (And it’s not a high school production!!!) How cool is that? He even said we would go for dinner at this very expensive restaurant near the theater but I said I would prefer just drinks. My thought was since this is my first time meeting him, I don’t know what type of person he is and I would hate to either get stuck with the tab or have him feel that I owe him something if he treats. At any rate, it certainly is nice having a guy actually take time to plan a date. Normally it’s drinks at happy hour somewhere– which, believe me, I do not mind. As long as they show up on time, are clean and have on a shirt, that’s all I ask. It’s just nice when someone goes a little further.

I wonder what dress I should wear? Hmmmmmmmmmm, maybe my hot pink dress that I wore to Audra’s Bachelorette party? We shall see.

Rocky Horror Picture Show!

Can it be? Has an entire year gone by since I was visually violated by the image of voluptuous women and emaciated men humping each other on stage all in the name of Dr. Frank-N-Furter? Well, it’s true and I can’t wait to be subjected to those images again! Yes, Saturday is the annual performance of Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville. I will be there in my black and white striped dress! And I will have my trusty CoolPix camera with me to record the event! More information is available here if you are in the area and feel a need to do the Time Warp! Remember, it’s just a jump to the left! (and a step to the right)

Oh yes, and my dearest friend Audra will be performing once again! I bet she grabs the bouquet right out of Janet’s grasp! 🙂

Katie Melua

I am so very excited to see Katie Melua in concert this weekend! This evening, instead of going for pizza (I am pretty sure DeLo’s is closed this week, anyway) I plan on going to see Casablanca at the County Theater. I’ve seen it before and it really is a good movie despite its iconic status. We shall see if the stars align and I am able to get out the door on time.

Did anyone watch Supernova last night? It’s the follow up to last year’s Rockstar. I don’t know what to think of it. The last guy to perform had one of the largest forehead’s I’ve ever seen. He scared me a little.

Eat your hearts out!

Guess who is going to see Katie Melua in concert on Sunday?

DONNA, THAT’S WHO!!!!!!!!!!

I just stumbled upon it! I had no idea she was in the US, much less Philadelphia! She’s performing at the World Cafe Live and Lisa and I are going. Tickets were 15.00 each! I am so excited!

Da da da

I had long inticate dreams about Chris Potter from Kung Fu the Legend Continues and clouds that reflected images so it was like watching a movie in the sky. And neon water features. That’s about it, I can’t remember too much more.

I can’t believe my vacation is over. It went by fast. I can’t complain, it’s only three days until the weekend and that is nice.

I am working from home today. August 1st is when the Philadelphia office opens and I will no longer work from home with any regularity. In a way I look forward to working from an office yet there is a part of me that will miss being able to roll out of bed and stumble to my desk. When I was working from Chicago, I had grown quite fond of going to an office. It was nice having that separation of work and home. This will be a good thing. Working from Philly should put me in the path of other people. Of course we said that when I learned I would be commuting to Manhattan. I am sure it will be fine.

I am sure I will find more events…

Boom

The weather improved! My dad made hamburgers and we ate outside on the deck. Later in the evening we drove to the retainer basin where last year someone had paid for a professional fireworks show. It happened again this year and we were treated to incredible (totally illegal) fireworks!
