Drinking my coffee and feeling more and more awake with every sip.
I hope Lisa returns my car on time this evening so I am able to join my folks for pizza. Her car was low on gas and so I good-naturedly offered mine.
Last night I actually BACKED UP MY HARDDRIVE! Can you believe it? Now that I have an external hard drive, it’s very easy. All I do is schedule the backup to go off at midnight and I leave my computer running. Voila! Security!
I have an entire week off! What will I do with myself? I could have scheduled a trip somewhere using my Frequent Flier miles. Lord knows I have enough of them. The thing is, I would be by myself. I hate traveling alone. I know I am supposed to LOVE being independent. LOVE that I can go where I want to go and do what I want to do and not answer to anyone. Except, I don’t. I hate sitting at restaurants alone. Walking around a strange city, always one step from being totally lost. Worried some strange man is going to attack and rape me. Sad that I haven’t spoken to anyone in days. It’s not fun. For me. Your mileage may vary.
So instead, I will clean my house. Go shopping. Visit with friends. Bake gingersnap cookies. Watch artsy fartsy movies. Drink Hot Buttered Rum. And have a good ole time surrounded by the familiar.

I think travelling alone is more of, what friends to meet while you are travelling. But then again, there are ALOT of really strange people out there.
So what movies are you going to watch?

Your not alone with the way you feel about traveling alone. I have grown tired of it myself and I have 13 days of vacation to use or lose before the end of the year. Before I would hop a flight to Germany, but just don’t have the desire since I will be by myself.
you don’t have to travel alone, give me notice, and we will go to Vegas….
NO, give ME notice I’ll meet ya guys down there! But i’m only a two hr. drive away….
Anyways take it easy

?????
Walking around alone? Sitting in restaurants alone? SCARED OF BEING RAPED???
What happened to John? You guys seem to have a lot of fun. Why don’t you go down to Baltimore?

I travel alone a lot too. I used to cure the boredom & alone-ness by SHOPPING, but that was financially ruinous.
I try to go on little nature-tours, hit the zoos, museums, try local food specialties…make the most of being in any given place at the time.
Ironically, I can’t wait ’till I return to Pennsylvania! People think California is all that but I’ve been here for most of my life. Anyway, don’t get down. You’re too pretty and healthy to waste time moping.
Yeah, being attacked and raped in a strange city by yourself is such a drag. It’s so much more fun to be attacked and raped in a strange city with a friend.
1. I am not moping, just telling the truth. When I am traveling by myself, I make the best of it too, but deep down, I am not enjoying it. This holiday I could go somewhere but I am opting to stick at home because I know I will have more fun.
2. When you are alone, you are an easy target. It is important to always be aware whether it is a strange city or a familiar city.
3. TGB– Todd?!? Is that you?!?!
Vielleicht.
Vielleicht? đŸ™‚ Where have you been? What are you up to? Have you been around and I’ve just been blind?
I’ve been in school in and working full time, so I have not been around much at all, so you are not blind.
I agree with Donna about vacationing on your own. It’s not that big a deal to travel on your own for business since you generally spend the bulk of your time working and your objective isn’t to have a good time. But unless you feel the need to get away from everyone and decompress (which does happen every so often) I think most people won’t have as good a time vacationing by themselves as they would if they have someone to share the experience with.
