I am not out having dinner with Erin’s parents. At 5:01, after everyone went home, I discovered that not only did the second shift not show up, but Telecom screwed up the phone lines and the calls weren’t going to voicemail. As the manager, I couldn’t just leave so I logged into the loop line and took calls. Gosh I feel bad that I missed dinner with Erin’s parents but I am in Chicago to work and that had to come first. Now I am watching Drew Carey and eating room service chicken caesar salad. Tomorrow I go home. Lisa mentioned that maybe after work on Friday, we could go to Atlantic City or Baltimore for a little mini-getaway. I am all for it. I need to get away.

Yep, its really bad luck to have to break and engagement like that. I really get down on myself for not forseeing any problems like that. But I do know how you feel, I had to break a big commitment while I was working in HAWAII, it really was a downer to go all that way and miss out on a big dinner party.
