Monday I went to the County and saw Pépé le Moko. It starred Jean Gabin as a gangster hiding out in the Casbah. The police are closing in and he feels caged. What brings him out of hiding? The love of a beautiful woman, what else! It was a good movie. Now I must see Algiers with Charles Boyer and Hedy LaMarr to see how well the Americans remade it. Did you know that Pepe le Pew is based on Charles Boyer’s portrayal of Pepe le Moko? Le mew, le pant le pant, le puff le puff, le pant!
On Saturday I went to a few garage sales and bought a TV for $25.00!!! The screen is much larger than the one we have. I lugged it up to Lisa’s loft only to find that the TV only has a coaxial cable plug and our DVD player doesn’t. Tuesday evening I strode confidently into the local Radio Shack and said, “Point me in the direction of your RF modulators, my good man!” It cost more than the TV but I figure $55.00 in all is still a pretty good price for a TV that size.
Last night I had to turn on my overhead fan! Yes, it is getting warm! Finally! The fan hums as it goes round. Almost like a revving noise. My dreams were filled with Starsky and Hutch and the Duke boys zooming around in their respective 1976 Ford Gran Torino and 1969 Dodge Charger General Lee.
There are very few songs in which I know all the words. Sure I can sing along when a song is on the radio but without the musical accompaniment, I can’t ever remember what line comes next. The theme to the Dukes of Hazard I can sing from start to finish without even needing a note (of course, very few notes come from my mouth). Same is true for Sonny and Cher’s I Got you Babe and the theme to Josie and the Pussycats. I figure the reason is I was exposed to those songs on a nightly basis during my formative years. Reclining on the brown shag carpet, sucking on an Otter Pop, watching TV, those songs infiltrated my mind. I think they are keeping me hostage. Just two good ole’ boys, never meaning no harm, beats all you ever saw gettin’ in trouble with the law since the day they was born! Making their way, the only way they know how; that’s just a little bit more than the law will allow! (This is the verse most forget–>) Straightening the curves, flattening the hills, some day the mountains might get’em but the law never will! Just two good ole boys, wouldn’t change if they could; fighting the system like two modern day Robin Hoods!

Ohh Hedy LaMarr, they don’t make them like they used to. Figured out frequency multiplexing with a time variable constant for radars…. Sorry, us geek engineers are easily amused. I laugh because today’s most actoresses are brain dead. Anyways, both were very good movies. Anyways take it easy and don’t work too hard.

“Point me in the direction of your RF modulators, my good man!”
I would have killed, or at least maimed, to have been able to observe that.
