Wanna Eat My Balls?

I don’t know what’s wrong with me but for the last few weeks I have been feeling very nostalgic for the 90’s. All I want to do is watch La Femme Nikita, Xena, Forever Knight, KFTLC and Highlander episodes and remember what life was like when these were things I very dearly cared about. Work ended this afternoon and for some weird reason I thought I’d do a Google Image search on Nigel Bennett and on the third page of results was one of my very own images of Nigel! Check it out:

This image linked to Audra’s web page (The AudraNet) where there was a Nigel Bennett Ate My Balls page. (Sadly it’s been long deleted) I can’t remember if we created it together or if she just created it to make me pee my pants but I remember it was HILARIOUS! And making it even more hysterical, somehow Joxer from Xena fit into the storyline. But really– how freaking bizarre! Those “ate my balls” pages were everywhere and now I think people would just look at you as if you were insane (or Andrew Zimmern) if you even mentioned eating balls. I kinda miss those days of the Internet… the crazy sounds of the modem connecting, waiting with such anticipation for an image to load, using Hotbot or Altavista as a search engine, chatting with ICQ…. Heck, I remember the joy when I was able to surf the web with a computer that actually SHOWED IMAGES. Yeah, before that it was a black screen with green ugly text. I remember getting a pcmcia modem card (28.8) for my little laptop and I coded Donna’s Home Page on a monochrome (varying shades of purple) screen and when months later when I finally saw it on a true color monitor I was ashamed at how insane the colors looked! Unfortunately the wayback machine doesn’t go back that far. I recently heard that all the Geocities Web sites will soon be deleted. Sad. There really should be an Internet Graveyard.

Good times.

Where are you man?

I made contact with a guy who wanted my couch. He said he would be here at 4:00 today to pick it up. It’s 4:11. Will he flake on me? I hope not. I want this couch gone!

Ren McCormack

Tonight is the annual meeting for my community association. It is also Latin Impact. My plan is to drop off my ballot and skip the meeting to Punta instead. The last meeting came very close to getting violent and I really don’t feel like watching another brawl. I am sure there will be plenty of talk about mold and the possible 11,000 assessment fee to fix the mold problem. It’s a shame the government can’t bail us out.

Hello!?! Quotes?!?

I asked two contractors for quotes to fix a couple issues plaguing the Donnavilla. Weeks are going by and the quotes still haven’t arrived. Does time move at a different pace for contractors? I thought contractors were hard up right now and they would be going crazy for work…. apparently not. I am trying to remain patient. The work will get done, eventually, I am sure. What’s wrong with mi cassa? I have two windows that have rotten sills and the marble seat in my shower cracked in half. I am also thinking of getting wooden floors installed… finally after 5 years of talking about it. I hate spending money but most of these things really need fixing and the floors would be a good thing to do for resale value. Looking back, I haven’t spent much money on this house at all so it’s time. Time to open the wallet and get stuff done. And I will recover.

Frozen Pizza

I bought three Acme frozen pizzas a couple days ago. They were only 3.95 each! That’s really cheap! Today I threw one in the oven for lunch and I was sad to discover that ONE serving size is 1/5 the pizza. That’s like nothing. That’s a freakin’ sliver! Plus, the calories in that one piece are like 1/3 the amount of calories I allow myself for an entire day! So I eat 1/2 the pizza and I am angry at the number of calories I’ve consumed AND I AM STILL HUNGRY. Damn frozen pizza.

WHY!?!?!

My father came over and together we extricated the sofa from my bedroom. Just in time for the girl to tell me she can’t take it– her truck isn’t big enough. DANGIT! Now I have the sofa in my hallway!!!! That’s okay– there will be another taker… I am sure of it.

My life…

It’s been an exciting couple hours here at the Donnavilla. Last night I came home from having spent the evening at my parents’ house and found my kitchen flooded. Water was dripping from the ceiling lamp. I immediately called my father who rushed over at 11:00pm and diagnosed the source of the leak. I thought it was a water pipe but my father recognized it was the air conditioner. Ray from Ray’s HVAC arrived this morning and told me my air conditioning unit was low in freon and somehow this was the reason for the water. It made sense coming out of his mouth but now as I try to repeat it, it just sounds insane.

Yesterday I decided it was time to get rid of the sofa in my bedroom. It had belonged to my neighbors and my mom rescued it from the garbage a few years back. It found a home with me although it never really acted as a sofa. Its main role was laundry storage. I posted an ad on Craigslist for a free sofa and I almost immediately got a taker. In preparation for the new owner, I have been trying to get the sofa out of my bedroom but I can’t seem to fit it through the door. HOW THE HECK DID I GET IT IN HERE? If I got it in, I must be able to get it out— right? And so for the second time in two days I have called my father, “Daddy? I need help!” He said he will come over later and mastermind the extraction. What would I do without him?

So far…

Friday night I went to see the Philly Funk Authority play at the Sellersville Theater. It was a really great show. I would have gotten up and danced if I didn’t have my big purse with me. I don’t know what I was thinking bringing it in the theater with me. I should have left it in my car. There is nothing more silly than a woman dancing around with a big purse on her shoulder. I’ll remember to forget it next time.

Saturday I went to Target World and for the first time ever, I shot a gun! In a way it reminded me of High School when I used to do archery. I have to admit, I felt rather queasy holding a gun. It scared me but I made sure I was alert and responsible. There was another break-in in my neighborhood the other day. I am considering purchasing a gun but I won’t do it until I am completely educated in gun ownership. Let’s just say that yesterday was my first step toward getting familiar with guns and possibly moving toward owning one.

Speaking of material goods I wish to own, I just bought the Verismo vuNOW PoD. My dad was telling me about it the other day and I decided to just buy it. Apparently you connect it to you TV and you can watch videos from YouTube and Hulu and other sites. It will arrive next week so I’ll let you guys know how it works once I get it connected and play with it a bit. I put my Netflix membership on hold a few months ago and I got an email telling me that it would be re-activating shortly. I think I may just cancel it totally— hopefully this VuNOW device will be a good replacement.

Rhapsody got its shuffle back!

I logged into Rhapsody and queued up a few songs and guess what I saw? A SHUFFLE button! Yes! It’s finally back!

Am I the only one that thought Cat Stevens was singing, “Be strange” and not “peace train?” It now makes sense why I never could find the song listed on any album of his.

I recently saw that Napster lowered the price for their music subscription service. I considered making the switch but then I remembered Yahoo music did the same thing right before it went belly up. RIP
