Turn around Brighteyes

GOOD NEWS!!!! My father didn’t body slam Rob! The night went swimmingly! We got to DeLo’s just past 8 and my parents joined us after about 10 minutes. I was a little disappointed Rob didn’t greet them with his Sylvester “Rocky” Stallone impression. Perhaps it was for the best. The first words out of my mother’s mouth were, “You are soooooo CUTE!! Much better than the picture posted on donnaville!” My dad was very friendly and talkative to Rob. You might be thinking, “Isn’t that pretty normal?” Not really. I haven’t introduced many men to my parents but on the few occasions I did, my father ignored each and everyone. My dad ordered three pies: Meatball, Sausage & Mushroom, and a white spinach pie, 1/2 clam & 1/2 anchovies. I am not sure if Rob thought the pizza was the best in the world but he ate a slice of each. Before we left, Lisa, the cheeky gal she is, tried to scare Rob. “Don’t worry, Rob! My dad is a really great guy, you have nothing at all to fear. He really has mellowed with age and he is rarely belligerent anymore. Hey, Donna, you remember that time that car cut us off and Daddy followed him to that restaurant parking lot and grabbed the guy out of the car and threw him against the hood?”
“Yeah, that was right after he shot a man in Reno just to watch him die, right?”

I guess the best part of the whole evening was that Rob didn’t take off screaming. He stayed and appeared to actually enjoy my parents’ company. How cool is that?

H2U

Not U2 played a good concert. I am a fan of the older music since I find it sounds distinctive to me. The newer stuff all sounds the same. Except for that song, Vertigo which reminds me of the Beach Boys song, “Kokomo.” Rob kept telling me, “It’s the same chord progression as Gloria and Sweet Home Alabama and …”

I MUST make a sale today. Or at least find a really good opportunity that has a good chance of closing!

I am looking forward to this evening! PIZZA! I gave Rob a list of topics that he should only broach with the utmost care. He agreed they were topics he would most likely not bring up during dinner. I think it’s going to be a fine night!

2U

I’m meeting Rob in Bensalem this evening. There’s a U2 Tribute band playing at the CBA Amphitheater. Tomorrow, Rob and I are meeting my parents at DeLo’s. This will be Rob’s first time eating a DeLorenzo’s Tomato Pie and I am hoping it will be the first time my parents don’t hit the ceiling after meeting a man I am interested in. We shall see but I am feeling extremely confident.

Marti Mojito

I had a meeting in Quakertown yesterday afternoon. Instead of going straight home I went to Green Acres, or rather as Rob terms his farm house, Wuthering Heights. We sat on his porch and ate peach pie and drank Mojitos. The Mojito was so very easy to make and very refreshing. it’s not an authentic recipe but it works!

Here’s the recipe:

Mojito!
1 part Marti Mojito Rum
2 parts Sierra Mist Soda
Ice
Mint leaves
Slice of lime

Directions:
Place ice in glass. Mash mint. Spoon mashed mint into glass. Pour in rum and soda. Place slice of lime in glass. Mix it all around. Sip!

Rock This Town

I had such a fantabulous weekend I should be arrested! Rob and I went to Rockabilly Night at the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville. The Rivers were great! They even played the song I requested via email after Blobfest, Eddie Cochran’s Somethin’ Else!!! Looking around the theater, Rob and I were the youngest people in attendance. We were also the best dressed. Rob looked so cool. He wore a retro fifties shirt and he had his hair piled high (and do forgive me for being immodest) but his baby looked so right (in my new H&M black mini-dress)! After the concert we went to Audra and Steve’s apartment and ate ice cream cake in celebration of their birthdays (August 3 & 4th). Would you believe that Steve’s cat, Venus, who absolutely hates me, loves Rob? I was shocked! Back at Rob’s farm, (I have mentioned he lives on a farm, haven’t I?) Rob strapped on his guitar and he serenaded me by singing even more Rockabilly songs! Rob does a mean Buddy Holly!

The next day we went to the Bethlehem Musikfest. We met my cousins Eileen and Jim and altogether we watched Ceili Rain, a Celtic band we saw last week at the Renaissance Faire’s Celticfest. Eileen and Jim left before the Red Elvises took stage. The first song the Red Elvises performed was embarrassingly horrible. Rob looked at me and said, “Are you sure this is the right band?” I felt terrible and I replied, “Let’s give them another song and if they don’t improve we can go to the Polka tent.”

As luck would have it, the second song was much better and once they played the third song we were dancing and screaming with everyone else. Rob said they were the weirdest band he has ever seen or heard but he liked them. I guess Russian-surf-lounge music isn’t that typical. The Red Elvises took a 10 minute break and instead of sticking around, we wandered over to the Polka tent where we took a couple laps around the dance floor. It’s been so long since I last polka-ed but it’s like riding a bicycle, it just comes right back!

This afternoon Rob let me choose what songs he would sing me. I chose: I’m a Believer, Daydream Believer, Last Train to Clarksville and I Got You Babe. Rob chose one song himself, Candy by Iggy Pop. I think he was a little shocked when right after the first chorus I said, “Yeah, well it hurt me real bad when you left, I’m glad you got out, But I miss you…” I don’t think he had a clue that I knew the Kate Pierson part! After watching OK GO videos on YouTube, we took a long nature trail walk around Rob’s farm. We actually caught two butterflies copulating!!!! The rest of the day was spent sitting outside. It’s so beautiful on the farm and it amazes me that Rob never seems to tire of me singing the theme to Green Acres. I am now back home and getting myself ready to face another work week.

Elvis you a nice Friday

I can’t believe it’s Friday! This week went by so quickly!

Last night I joined my parents for DeLorenzo’s pizza. It was so yummy! We ordered a small 1/2 meatball and 1/2 sausage and mushroom and a small extra tomato. My mom said how nice it was for me to join them since she rarely sees me anymore.

Tonight is Rockabilly night in Phoenixville with the Rivers Rockabilly Trio. I think I am going to wear my new H&M black mini dress. Or my black and white striped dress. Or my pink and white striped dress. Probably the black mini dress. Audra and Steve won’t be joining us as I had thought. Steve apparently wasn’t taken with the Rivers when he heard them perform at Blobfest. I can’t quite understand how someone wouldn’t like this type of music but I am sure out there somewhere someone is saying, “I can’t believe she doesn’t love RAP, I mean who in their right mind doesn’t just love Gangsta Rap?!” Of course, I don’t mind all types of rap music. Just yesterday I was listening to MC Hammer’s Hammer Time in the car and I was getting down like any 31-year old white woman would get down listening to The HAMMER! I also like the songs, Parents Just Don’t Understand and I Like Big Butts. I am sure there are a few other Rap songs I like although I suspect that they are novelty rap songs. Many years ago I saw Legends in Concert in Atlantic City and the Elvis Impersonator actually performed a RAP interlude in the middle of Suspicious Minds. At the time I was disgusted! Elvis NEVER rapped! Now that I am older, if I saw it again, I think I would be more accepting.

At pizza last night my father said to me that he agrees with Lisa. He doesn’t like the new Donnaville layout. He said that it doesn’t feel as intimate and he is unnerved by the fish-eye wallpaper. Maybe I need to tone the design down a bit? I gotta think about it. I really would like to have someone design something especially nice for me but the one designer I contacted said she didn’t have the time. I’ll figure something out.

It’s me ****!

I think I am going to be sick. I ATE TOO MUCH! Trying to make myself feel better, I went for a walk. It didn’t help. What the heck was I thinking drinking a milkshake?

Lisa told me that she no longer reads donnaville since I switched it from Moveable Type to WordPress. She says that she doesn’t like the new layout AND I’ve become terribly boring. Isn’t that lovely? I don’t care.

Tomorrow I am going to Manhattan. I hope the trains run on time. I hope this heat wave breaks soon. It is so stuffy outside. Thank goodness for air conditioning. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like without central air!

I’m Waiting for The COFFEE!

The train was late getting home yesterday. I had grabbed an early train but it got me to Trenton the same time as my normal train. I’m thinking it was the heat. Once home I quickly tried to get the house in order. Rob came over a little after 8 and we watched a movie. Bo once again was beside himself! Rob said, “I think your dog is trying to crawl up my ass!” Bo rushed all over the place, spinning and jumping wildly. I had to pick up little Bo and calm him down. I was really worried he might hurt himself. Rob thinks it’s because he is trying to get our attention. I am not sure of the reason. Bo has never before behaved so oddly.

Rob told me that it wasn’t E sharp but rather E minor he taught me. He also tried to explain to me why there is no such thing as an E sharp. I definitely need to practice my two chords. I should buy new strings for Lisa’s Danelectro guitar so I can practice.

It’s only Wednesday and already I am aching for the weekend. It has nothing to do with my job but rather I have such a kick ass weekend planned! Friday is Rockabilly Night in Phoenixville. The Rivers are performing! On Saturday is the Bethlehem Musikfest and the Red Elvises are playing. I can hardly contain myself! (Kinda like little Bo!) I am hoping to meet up with my cousins Eileen and Jim at the Musikfest. My cousin Eileen is a long distance marathon runner! She does 18 miles in her sleep. Me? I run out of breath walking to the mailbox.
