Rockin’ Robins

I checked on the little robin chicks this afternoon and you wouldn’t believe how big they have gotten! They look like regular birds now. Just a little smaller. No more terradactyls! In fact, their eyes are open. I am surprised at how fast it happened.

Deathwaltz

Went garage sale-ing. Not much out there. I swear, some people think they shit gold. After lunch, Lisa and I came back to the donnavilla and planted the flowers. My elbows deep in the dirt, the sky opened up and rain fell down. I guess this means I don’t have to water. Now I want to do a couple loads of laundry and get this place in shape. I am such a slob, I find it impossible to keep the house perfect. I am constantly cleaning. Maybe that is what it takes to have a clean house? Tonight Lisa and I are going to Music for the Villain at the Rotunda. Even if it keeps raining. And I don’t care I am probably going to be over 10 years older than most of the audience. All is cool!

stuff

Mom, Lisa, and I went shopping Friday night. Lisa and I bought a ton of plants for our courtyard. I can barely wait to get them all planted! They are going to look so pretty. After the plant shopping, we went to Big Lots and then Target. I bought a very cute sun dress and a pair of denim capri pants at Target. They are heavily worn out, have bulging pockets up and down the legs, and they are a size 5. (Yes, they fit, amazingly, except they are bit snug, but denim loosens!) I am not really sure what I was thinking when I bought them.

This morning we are going garage sale-ing. There are ton of garage sales where my mom lives. I am hoping to find some cheap patio furniture. We shall see.

Me likey!

Lisa and I may go back to the Rotunda on Saturday. Not for another artsy-fartsy, sureal movie but for this:

Deathwaltz Records
Presents
Music for the Villain

French Gypsy Swing, Dismal Mexicali, and Sinister Avant Circus music fuse collectively with bizarre films to form an alluring evening.

F! (myspace link):
Cinematic and menacing waltzes intertwine with avant malevolence in F!’s ultimate cartoon score for high society. Twisting genres like Parisian polka with Italian opera, F! has been tweaking compositions into a gothic spaghetti western you can’t seem to get out of your head.

Daphne (myspace link):
Philadelphia’s gypsy jazz quartet Daphne draws its inspiration from the swing jazz of the forties and the French Musette. Daphne’s wide repertoire ranges from American jazz standards to traditional European folk music.

Gringo Motel (myspace link):
Gringo Motel is a desert twang, instrumental surf band with excursions into mariachi, ambient landscapes, circus music and outsider art. Their desolate resonance of somber tunes invoke reality as a picture show.

How cool is that? I wonder if I should bring a comfortable folding chair?

Marienbad

I liked Last Year at Marienbad. The seats were terribly uncomfortable and at one point, I found myself entranced by Giorgio Albertazzi’s voice and the surreal images. I had to shake myself back to regular consciousness. This is not a movie that can easily be explained and certainly not a movie for just anyone to watch. Although you can play a version of the game, Nim, that the characters play throughout the movie here.

It rained last night. The theater wasn’t a theater but an old room in an old building on UPenn’s campus. The film was advertised in the Philly Inquirer Sunday edition and I assumed many people would attend. Finding out that it was actually a college event, I worried that Lisa and I would be old fogeys. As it turns out, the audience consisted mostly of old men. Old, old men. There were a couple old women and one college-aged couple. I will go next month since Andrew is showing a movie I have wanted to see for a very long time, Something for Everyone starring Michael York and Angela Lansbury. I hope I can find a comfortable folding chair to bring that is easy to transport.

Too long

I updated the spycam after a 1 1/2 month break. Well, truth is, it wasn’t so much a break as laziness. You see, it took me that long to change the settings back because I had changed them so the cam would update Lisa’s A Bumpy Road web site with updated images of Bobo during the day while I was at work so I could check up on him. That only lasted a little while. And I was too lazy to change it back to my settings.

Peeps

That sundae I ate yesterday made me feel so sick. I know it made me ill. SO WHY IS IT I WANT ANOTHER ONE TODAY? I don’t understand my drives.

Entering the house, I peered into the robin’s nest and all the little chicks must have thought I was their momma because they raised their little heads with wide open mouths. They looked almost terradactyl. I wonder if one day I will ever regurgitate food into someone’s mouth? I hope not, that’s pretty disgusting.

Yes it is

Time is on my side when my alarm rings and I don’t languish in bed but pop up and run to the bathroom. Time is also on my side when I take short showers that last no more than 5 minutes. Blogging doesn’t help but what the heck!
Now I make coffee!
