Banana Bread!

I’m listening to Rockin’ Ron Cade’s Elvis and Friends radio show as I do every Sunday morning. Very slowly I am getting ready to meet Erin at Barnes & Noble. We will get a coffee and then go to HMart. I want to buy a 1/2 ton bag of frozen edamame soy beans. I also need mangos and kiwis.

Yesterday the weather was perfect. Absolutley perfect. Lisa and I took Bo to Tyler State Park and we walked and walked and walked. It was lovely. In the morning I baked banana bread for Joe and Judy, our neighbors from across the street. Judy has cancer and is not doing well. I figured banana bread might cheer her up. That’s rather simplistic, isn’t it? “I’m in terrible pain and I am close to death but DONNA BAKED ME BANANA BREAD, HOO HA!!!!!” At least I try.

Doppelgängerin

I watched Desiging Woman starring Lauren Bacall. Has anyone else noticed the similarity between Lauren Bacall and Charlotte Rampling? I never noticed it before but they really could be sisters. Same eyes, same shape of face.

Coffee Clear

Lisa and I celebrated my return to gainful employment by going to Ludwig’s and sharing a good German dinner. It was delish!

I dropped Verizon a few weeks ago and went with Vonage instead. It was easy setting it up and I love how they email me my voicemail messages however the quality SUCKED! I am talking a perpetual hum on the line. It was horrible and having some time on my hands on Thursday I decided to get to the bottom of it. I followed their instructions of keeping all the devices 4 feet from each other and I did numerous power recycles. Nothing worked. I called Vonage and the guy told me to go out to my phone box on the side of the house and pull out all the phone lines coming into the house. He said that they were dirtying the line. I don’t like to touch things like that by myself so I called my dad and he came over yesterday. He pulled the wires for me and I checked the phone line. IT IS PERFECT! The sound quality is perfect.

This morning I must go to the grocery store to buy coffee. I have no clue what I was thinking the other week. I went out specifically to buy cremora. Why didn’t I pick up coffee while I was there? I must have known we were running low.

Preparing Frozen Edamame Soybeans

I just recently discovered how easy it is to make Edamame Soybeans. They were always something I enjoyed when I went to Japanese restaurants but I never considered making them at home. The last time I was at HMart, I noticed they had bags of frozen Edamame Soybeans. I bought a bag but I was pretty sure they wouldn’t taste as good as what is served at the Japanese restaurants. I WAS WRONG! They are DELICIOUS. Here is how I prepared them:

1. Boil water.
2. Throw in some salt (4 or 5 shakes of a salt shaker)
3. Throw in the Edamame Soybeans
4. Set the timer for 5 minutes.
5. After 5 minutes, drain, rinse, drain.
6. Pour the Edamame Soybeans into a bowl
7. Salt the Edamame Soybeans profusely.
8. ENJOY!!!!!!!

FYI

The company I interviewed with on Tuesday made me an offer yesterday. I plan on accepting it today.

Nothing is fixed in stone yet but I think all is going to be okay.

Section 1

Lisa called me at our parents’ house to tell me Gedeon was cancelled from American Idol!

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I liked him! Darn it, I should have voted!

As I stepped out into the bright sunlight

Perhaps I should have posted this on Monday, but PONYBOY SHOWED UP ON 24! I was very sorry to see that he was sporting what I like to call a “crotch mouth” goatee. I love facial hair (on men); however, this particular look I find repellent. In order for a goatee to look nice, it must be trimmed, defined and well-maintained. Growing a beard and then shaving the sides doesn’t do it.

I am sorry if any readers recognized themselves in this post but believe me, it is for your own good. Now go and buy yourself a Norelco Maverick.

Edamame Soybeans

I had such a yummy lunch! Edamame Soybeans and a Mango Lassi! I just recently discovered how easy it is to make Edamame Soybeans. They were always something I enjoyed when I went to Japanese restaurants but I never considered making them at home. The last time I was at HMart, I noticed they had bags of frozen Edamame Soybeans. Just so you know, you don’t eat the pod. Instead, squeeze the pod so the beans squirt out, right into your mouth!

Oh, and just recently I read an article in a magazine that soybeans help in weight loss!

Ryan/Simon/Taylor

No word yet from either company. We shall see. If I don’t hear from them, it wasn’t meant to be and I am fine with that.

I didn’t do much job hunting yesterday. Mainly I just putzed around. I cleaned the house, did a load of laundry and I baked a cranberry bread loaf. NetFlix sent me Designing Woman with Lauren Bacall and Gregory Peck and The Thin Man with William Powell and Myrna Loy. I can’t wait to watch them but it’s difficult making room around 24 and American Idol. The only thing that really has me watching American Idol is Lisa. I am getting so tired of Ryan Seacrest and his snide remarks about Simon. Taylor Dane Hicks scares me. I have this very odd feeling that at the very end of the show when he is crowned American Idol, Taylor is going to rip off his skin and reveal that he is actually Joe Cocker.

Tonight is pizza night! I can’t wait, it’s been two weeks since I’ve been to DeLorenzo’s. In preparation for the binge feast that will take place this evening, I will probably go on 5 walks this afternoon.

I received an email from the gal who created those Forever Knight videos I linked to on YouTube the other day. She has a Web site that is chock full of videos she made using Forever Knight footage. If you are interested in checking out her other creations, click here. My favorite is the Nick/LaCroix section. No surprise there, huh? 🙂
