Edge of seat

I am so sad! Geraint Wyn Davies’ character on 24 was killed off tonight!!! The good news is Julian Sands has taken over. This last episode had me on the edge of my seat. I actually became so distraught, I had to stand up and walk around!

Before 24 and House, Lisa and I watched Meet Joe Black. I’ve seen the ending a few times but never the beginning or middle. Watching this movie I noticed a strange trend. In movies, sophisticated women fall in love with veritable imbeciles or children. Sure, Joe Black was portrayed by Brad Pitt and most women would love him no matter what, but he was a blank slate. He had no clue how to behave or what peanut butter tasted like yet the girl falls head over heels in love with him. Lisa and I decided to come up with other movies that share this premise.

_Big – Elizabeth Perkins falls in love with Tom Hanks who is actually a 12 year old boy trapped in Tom Hanks’ body
_Like Father Like Son – Catherine Hicks falls for Dudley Moore who is actually a high school student trapped in Dudley Moore’s body
_Arthur – Liza Minnelli falls in love with Dudley Moore who is a wino
_Walk Like a Man – Amy Steel falls for Howie Mandel who was raised by a pack of wild wolves
_Any movie featuring Tarzan
_Starman – Karen Allen falls in love with alien Jeff Bridges
_Earth Girls Are Easy – Geena Davis falls in love with alien Jeff Goldberg
_Regarding Henry – Annette Bening falls in love with Harrison Ford after he suffers a brain injury
_Dumb & Dumber – Lauren Holly falls in love with Jim Carrey who is Dumber
_Any movie starring Adam Sandler

Can you think of any others? List them in the comments.

David Bowie and spiky wigs

Lisa and I had a pretty good Indian lunch. I am getting really great at boiling Basmati rice and the packet of Dhingri Mutter. Cooking is just so fulfilling.

We have decided to celebrate President’s Day by walking a labyrinth this afternoon. My father and Lisa got into labyrinths a few years ago and it always interested me but because I was such a workaholic, I never had time. We shall see if I like it. I know one thing, I definitely need to clear my mind.

If you are interested in walking a labyrinth, you can find one near you here.

Labyrinths are currently being used world-wide as a way to quiet the mind, find balance, and encourage meditation, insight and celebration. They are open to all people as a non-denominational, cross-cultural tool of well-being.

The labyrinth is not a maze. There are no tricks to it and no dead ends. It has a single circuitous path that winds into the center. The person walking it uses the same path to return and the entrance then becomes the exit. The path is in full view, which allows a person to be quiet and focus internally. Generally there are three stages to the walk: releasing on the way in, receiving in the center and returning; that is, taking back out into the world that which you have received. There is no right way or wrong way to walk a labyrinth.

living day by day

I actually hate looking for a job almost as much as I hated my last job. All things pass. Before I know it, I’ll be looking back at this period in my life with a smile on my face. I just have to keep plowing through.

Tonight 24 is on. The previews from last week showed a much more extended presence of Mr. Geraint Wyn Davies as well as the debut of Mr. Julian Sands. It should be one heck of an episode! I just wish Peta Wilson would show up in black leather and kick everyone’s ass. A girl can dream!

The sun rays, streaming in from my window, are warm. Too bad the air outside is frigid. Regardless, I should take a walk just to get away from this computer.

Prez

Lisa’s off because of President’s Day. I have a couple phone calls I need to return from recruiters. The day is starting off very cold and I wish it was warm. Going to the shore would be silly. Walking in weather like this isn’t pleasant. Might as well sit in front of the computer screen and search Monster.

Bebop

Today was a lazy day. After shopping I did a load of laundry and a crossword puzzle. That’s about it. Audra came over and she and Lisa went shopping. I should have joined them but I just didn’t feel up to it. This evening, Lisa and I were going to see the Pontani Sisters but again I didn’t feel up to getting dressed and going out. Instead we went to our parents’ house and had dinner. I showed off the clothes I bought at Super Marshalls yesterday. Mom and dad approved of each outfit, even the bebop dress! I don’t think I mentioned the bebop dress in my past entry. Well, here is a picture:

Isn’t it absolutely lovely? It looks fabulous on! It only cost $20.00 and one never knows when they will find themselves in a situation that calls for a bebop dress.

At any rate, it was a lazy day.

Shopping is finished! Well, almost. I still need to go to Acme for the Activia Pro but otherwise all my other shopping is finished. Last night Lisa and I went to the Super Marshall’s not too far from the Donnavilla. We call it Super Marshall’s because it is a much grander and larger version of all the other Marshall’s we’ve ever visited. I found a Jones New York suit for 80.00 and a Liz Claiborne suit for 36.00! I am going to look so smart on my future interviews!

Now I must do a couple loads of wash.

This little Piggie

This morning I MUST go grocery shopping. A couple weeks ago, with the help of Erin, I discovered Subzi Mandi, an Indian Grocery. They have entrees, sealed in plastic and boxed. They cost 1.50 and feed two people perfectly. All you do is boil the packet and pour it over Basmati rice and you have a perfect meal! It tastes just like what is served at an Indian Restaurant. I want to buy a bunch of those boxes since they are so easy to prepare and very cheap! I also must go to HMart which is a Korean grocery. They have the best prices on fruit. I can get 5 kiwis for a dollar. I wish HMart or Subzi Mandi carried Dannon Activia Pro since that’s the only reason why I will go to Acme.

Dom Dom Dom

Last night Lisa and I got dressed up and we went to Philly. I did not wear fake eyelashes. As is usually the case, Philly was completely packed and parking was nonexistent. Finally after about an hour of driving around we found a spot not far from Ludwig’s. I think our plan was to go someplace we haven’t been before but that didn’t pan out. We went to Ludwig’s and ordered beer and 2 appetizers. A man sat next to me and he looked very much like an old German friend of mine. I couldn’t help but talk to him and it turned out he was from the mountains of North Carolina. He said the spot he is from attracts linguists because it is home to the most pure folk dialect and it is very similar to how Shakespeare spoke. How interesting is that?

The other day, Lisa became completely fed up waiting for her New Jersey Teacher’s application to be issued. It’s been 11 months and the status on the Web site seemed stuck at “Examiner Seeks Information.” Wednesday evening, we wrote an email to Governor Corzine asking for his help. THE VERY NEXT MORNING, THE STATUS CHANGED TO ISSUED! We couldn’t believe it!

Coming back from Philly, we popped into the CD player, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas soundtrack. We know all the words. I guess it was during the song, “Texas Has a Whorehouse in It! (God have mercy on our soul!)” sung by Dom DeLuise, Lisa said, “There was a time Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise starred in tons of movies together.”
“That was back in the 70’s and 80’s.”
“Why did they stop? Those were great movies! They should keep making movies together. I know Dom is dead but c’mon!”
“Dom DeLuise isn’t dead.”
“See, now they have no excuse.”
“Lisa….”
“I’m going to take this situation to someone who can do something about it!”
“Like who?”
“GOVERNOR CORZINE!”
