Zooooooom

I dreamt I boarded a rocket ship and blasted off to space. Looking out the porthole, I thought I would see the earth as a blue marble but instead it looked more like a ping pong ball. We landed on a planet in which the ground was red jello. Rather than explore the planet, we played softball. I was amazed at how far I could throw the ball.

Here is a recipe for the most yummy rice pudding I ever ate!
Alton Brown’s Indian Rice Pudding

1 cup cooked long grain or basmati rice
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup coconut milk
2 ounces sugar, approximately 1/4 cup
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
1 1/2 ounces golden raisins, approximately 1/3 cup
1 1/2 ounces chopped unsalted pistachios, approximately 1/3 cup

In a large nonstick saute pan over medium heat, combine the cooked rice and milk. Heat until the mixture begins to boil. Decrease the heat to low and cook at a simmer until the mixture begins to thicken, stirring frequently, approximately 5 minutes.
Increase the heat to medium, add the heavy cream, coconut milk, sugar, and cardamom and continue to cook until the mixture just begins to thicken again, approximately 5 to 10 minutes. Use a whisk to help prevent the cardamom from clumping. Once the mixture just begins to thicken, remove from the heat and stir in the raisins and pistachios. Transfer the mixture to individual serving dishes or a glass bowl and place plastic wrap directly on the surface of the pudding. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Here we go again

Almost ready to go to the airport. I wish I had a few more days at home but I say that every week. Today was a beautiful day. The air smelled of spring. I can hardly wait for the warm weather.

Really Cool!

This afternoon I finally happened across someone selling VCDs of the unreleased seasons of La Femme Nikita on eBay. I quickly clicked BUY NOW and after inputting my PayPal info, I did a little happy dance. Soon I will have in my ownership seasons 3-5! I am so happy but mainly because I am tired of watching seasons 1 & 2 over and over again.

Lisa and I took Beau to the park near us earlier in the day. He actually walked with the leash! Not bad for a 9 week old puppy! So many people stopped to tell us how cute he is and ask his breed. I have a feeling Bucks County may start seeing a surge in Japanese Chins.

Tomorrow, Lisa, Audra, Lanke and I are going to my parents’ house to do pysanky. What is pysanky? It is a Ukrainian style of egg decorating where hot wax is applied to an egg using a stylist and then the egg is dipped into dye. Once the egg is colored, the wax is removed. It’s fun and infuriating because without fail, an egg that you spent an hour decorating will break. At least it always happens to me. Instead of getting mad I let it serve as a reminder that all things are ephemeral.

Crossword tag team before morning coffee

“12 across, big bird”
“Big Bird?
“Yes. I’m pretty sure it’s ostrich”
“What? Are you crazy? It’s obviously chicken!”
“Chicken? Lisa, the clue is *big* bird”
“Donna, Big Bird was a really large chicken— he was bright yellow!”
“No no! Not Big Bird from Sesame Street, big bird like a really large fowl.”
“Oh”

Cha Cha Cha

I had to reschedule the dragon slaying for tomorrow. Although I did get one review completed. It wasn’t bad. Yeah, he did get a little snippy and quite a bit defensive but I consider it a success when tears aren’t shed. Let’s hope tomorrow’s review goes as well. Thank goodness I brought 2 pairs of underoos with me.

My eHarmony membership is once again up for renewal. Rather than going month to month I think I may sign up for the entire year. We shall see.

Off I go to fight a dragon!

I have been dreading this moment for a very long time. Finally it is upon me and there is nothing for me to do but roll up my sleeves and do it. My only hope is she doesn’t cry like the last one. Performance Reviews suck.
