Shore-est thing

That was nice. You couldn’t have asked for better weather. We sat on the beach. We walked. We sat on the beach. We walked. It was very relaxing. I would have liked to stay longer but I have so much to do here at home.

This evening after I did a little bit of cleaning of my room, Lisa and I watched the Handmaid’s Tale. It wasn’t nearly as good as I remembered. Of course, back when I originally saw it, I was a card carrying Socialist. Now with my current political bent, the film just struck me as rather silly. Aidan Quinn was nice, though. Real nice.

Lisa is closing in. She wants a puppy. I have a feeling that it will happen shortly. I will come back from Chicago to find a little puppy named Dingo or Lupe or Schatzie sitting on the sofa.

I’ve done a few more iTunes searches and I keep coming up empty-handed. Is my taste really that far out there? I just can’t figure it out.

Searching for an image of Aidan Quinn to link to– I came across this wonderful site! Guess what Elvs Presley, Dolph Lundgren, Aidan Quinn, Fabio, Cliff Richard, Dick Van Dyke and Lou Ferrigno all have in common? Read the Web site and you’ll find out.

Two questions for the ages:

1. Who sang the song, “On the way to Cape May?” I thought it was Bobby Rydell but I am not seeing any evidence of that on his albums on Tower.com.

2. Why are people so mean? Certainly there are 2 types: Those that don’t know you and are just mean to everyone and then there is the type that knows you, has wormed into your life and then BAM– they’re mean. And of course that group breaks itself into another two types: Those that are mean to your face and the other that is mean behind your back. Yes, I am feeling a little bit violated at the moment. I got some people in my life that are working all 3 types. The thing is I just don’t get it. When I do something not quite right, I feel such shame. I can’t figure why these people don’t.

Vacation Plans

Go to the Jersey Shore. Sit on the beach and look at the ocean for 3 days. Come home. Clean room. Organize closet. Do laundry. Cook. Bake. Listen to music. Watch movies. Sit on the deck and drink wine and listen to Walt play his accordian. Take long walks. etc.. Just those things I haven’t had time to do over the last 3 months.

back

Picked Mom and Dad up at the airport. They spent the last two weeks in Poland and Slovakia. They flew Scandinavian Air. Standing at the airport, waiting for them to get through customs, I saw so many beautiful, towheaded men. I said to Lisa, “We should spend Saturday nights here more often!”

I got all my expense reports submitted. There was a total of 9 reports!!!! It took me hours to complete all of them. I mustn’t let it get this far gone again.

This morning Lisa and I were talking about how we should both start watching our food intake. Maybe go on a little diet together. We figured we should stock the refridgerator with some healthy food so we went to Tanner Bros. and bought fruit, vegetables, and… two bowls of ice cream. On our drive to the Newark Airport, we picked up two coffees at Dunkin’ Donuts….and two donuts. Yeah, we’re doing really great.

iTunes sucks

I signed up for iTunes with the thought that it would be INCREDIBLE. Similar to Audiogalaxy except I would have to pay for the songs. Gosh, Audiogalaxy was fabulous. Vera Lynn, Dr. Demento, Billy Eckstein, Donna Loren, Francis Cabrel, Henry Valentino– it had EVERYTHING. The last few days I’ve been searching for songs/albums on iTunes and they have NOTHING. Allá en el Rancho Grande, nope. The Guru Soundtrack? NADA. Pop a Paris, NOTHING.

UGHHHHHhhh!

I have to do my expense reports. I am 3 weeks behind, or maybe 4. This is ridiculous! Why do I despise doing something that brings me money? I am just going to have to DO IT. Sit down and do it.

Last night Lisa and I watched the Olivia Newton-John and John Travlota masterpiece Two of a Kind. We used to watch that movie as kids and giggle and giggle and giggle. Last night we relived our youth. We followed Two of a Kind with Godard’s Une femme est une femme/A Woman is a Woman. Within 15 minutes of it starting Lisa stood up and said, “No fair, you promised this wasn’t one of your stupid movies!” and she left. She might have also been a little angry with me because everytime Jean-Paul would appear I would bellow “Belmondo!” Even though I enjoyed the movie, it wasn’t fabulous nor was it a film I would want to see again. It reminded me very much of Punch Drunk Love with the jolting soundtrack.

I am so happy it is October. October is my favorite month! Autumn, hot apple cider, pumpkin pie, gingersnap cookies, jack-o-lanterns, Haunted Hayrides and bonfires at Shadybrook Farm, cool breezes, sweaters, candycorn, bat-shaped Peeps and York peppermint patties & HALLOWEEN!

No more procrastination! TIME TO DO YOUR EXPENSE REPORTS!

green day

Green day has put out a new album. No, I am not a fan. It’s just that the lead singer looks so very much like Heiko, it’s eerie. I scan the music review section of the paper and there it is, a picture of Green Day with Herr R’s doppelganger. I find it unsettling. Back a few years ago, I was flipping the channels on TV and came across a Green Day video in which the group were on a parade float. My father walked by and did a double take. “Is that the asshole?” he said curiously. “No, Daddy, this is a different asshole.” Of course, it doesn’t take a picture of Green Day to get my mind pointed to H. In fact, not a day has gone by since June 26, 1997 without some thought towards H. Although I believe these thoughts are due to the pink elephant theory more than me still not over him. I remember years ago, I said to H, “I think of you every day… do you think of me?” His reply? “Sometimes.” Bastard. My father was right all along; he was an asshole.
