Ich Find Dich Scheisse

I let Rhapsody lapse. What’s the point in subscribing when I listen to nothing but Suzi Quatro? I decided to queue up music the old way… in CD form. My cds are locked away in the attic but I dug them out and realized my taste in music is crap. Shakin’ Stevens. Kid Creole and the Coconuts. Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys. Marlene Dietrich.

And this crap:

Ich Find Dich Scheisse. German Rap. At one point back in the 90’s I could actually rap along with them. Translates to I think you’re shit or You suck!

Männer sind Schweine. Men are pigs. With a primitive Laura Crofts figure. Men are such swine. Don’t even hope for sunshine.

What a wonderful butt! I’m so glad that I’m a girl, that I’m a girl. The Bosnian Twins from college introduced me to Ms Lucilectric. What a great song. The Spice Girls should have covered it.

Coming to grips with your taste in music is the first step on the road to recovery.

Donna, King Creole and the Coconuts? It’s amazing some of the things you come up with. I saw those guys in a club in south Texas in the 80’s. I thought they were a local Texas thing. They were pretty great! Hmmm, allow me to free associate…I also liked some music by Senor Coconut, this guy from Kraftwerk. Ah yes, I remember last summer we were listening to Autobahn in the Cascade mountains very early in the morning on our way to hike old growth forest around the Mt. Ranier volcano. Oddly great! Maybe it’s true music triggers memory…

Oh my gosh! That is so crazy! I also found an album by Senor Coconut but I didn’t mention it because I thought it was too obscure! I had no idea he was a guy from Kraftwerk! Kraftwerk is great. I had the old Autobahn LP and I swear they used tones outside human hearing because whenever I played it, my old dog Kiwi used to go CRAZY! I also like Sie ist ein Model und sie sieht gut aus… Rammstein also covered it. (Is it just me or does Kraftwerk have some Devo in them? Or would that be the other way around?)

ha! Well, I checked Wikipedia and Senor Coconut was INFLUENCED by Kraftwerk. Sorry. He’s this mad electronic composer guy. Good stuff though. It’s pop but pretty intricate. Yeah, Kraftwerk and Devo and maybe David Byrne? Pretty great.

I’ll go out on a limb and speculate that about .01% of the general population is familiar with the music on Donna’s playlist. If awards were given for obscure and arcane musicology, Donna would win hands-down. But that’s not a criticism….anyone who resists being spoon-fed a set of beliefs or a set of musical tastes is someone to be admired. And Donna is obviously someone who thinks for herself.
